Start Point:
Sinclair Mansion, northeast of Seers' Village.
To Start:
Speak to any of the Guards on the property.
Instructions:
  1. Talk to one of the Guards outside of the Sinclair Mansion, found northeast of Seers' Village, and they'll tell you that Lord Sinclair has been murdered and they cannot find the culprit. Offer to help and you'll be asked to question the family about the murder and gather evidence.
    Step 1
  2. Head into the mansion and check out the scene of the murder in the eastern room. Pick up the Pungent pot on the table and the Criminal's dagger on the floor, then investigate the smashed window to find a Criminal's thread.
    Step 2
  3. Next, go outside and investigate the Sturdy wooden gate on the east side of the mansion and the dog inside will bark at you, suggesting that it knew the killer to allow them to enter through the window.
    Step 3
  4. Now go back into the mansion and find the Sinclair children whose pants color matches that of the Criminal's thread found on the window. Search the barrels in their bedrooms to find a selection of silver items: Note: There are two bedrooms downstairs and four upstairs. The color of the thread, and therefore the suspects you have, are random.
    Step 4
  5. Go back outside and walk around to the Gardener's shed on the west side of the mansion. Investigate the sacks to get some Flypaper. Collect a piece of paper for each of your suspects and head to the kitchen in the mansion.
    Step 5
  6. In the kitchen, fill your Empty pot with flour from the barrel in the corner and use it on the Criminal's dagger, then use the Flypaper on the dagger to get an Unknown print. Now repeat the process on the silver items you collected earlier to get fingerprints of the suspects and compare them with the print from the dagger. Use the two prints that match on each other to get a Killer's print, therefore identifying the murderer. However, you'll need to get some more evidence for a conviction.
    Step 6
  7. Talk to the Gossip at the mansion gate and ask him who he thinks is responsible for the murder. He'll mention seeing a poison salesman from the village deliver a batch of poison to the family.
    Step 7
  8. Make your way to the Forester's Arms, found just north of the Seers' Village lodestone, and talk to the Poison salesman. Ask him about poison and he'll tell you that everyone at the mansion bought some.
    Step 8
  9. Go back to the Sinclair mansion and ask your suspected killer (the child whose fingerprints matched those on the dagger) what they used the poison for and then check the item or area that they mention:
    • Anna - Compost heap
    • Bob - Beehive in garden
    • Frank - Family Crest, east of the front door
    • David - Spider nest (2nd floor)
    • Carol - Kitchen drain, west of the front door
    • Elizabeth - The fountain
If you've identified the correct person, you'll find that no poison has been used when you investigate the item/area as they've used it to kill their father. If not, you'll have to question the other children as well and search their areas until you find the one that hasn't been poisoned.
  10. Return to the Guard and tell him you know he committed the murder. Show him the fingerprints and the thread as evidence, and tell him about the poison. He'll inform you that the culprit will be kept under house arrest until trial and thank you for your help.
