Start Point:
Imperial Guard training camp in Burthorpe, North of the Hero's Guild.
To Start:
Speak to Denulth.
Instructions:
  1. Speak to Denulth, head of the Army in Burthrope he will tell you about the planned raid backfired. Ask him if there is anything you can do to help, he will tell you of a captured soldier, Godric. Tell him you'll go up to the Troll Stronghold to save Godric.

    Step 1

  2. If you have climbing boots get them or they can be purchased for 12 gp from Tenzing. Make you way to Tenzing's hut, speak to him if you need boots then climb over the stile as before and head north. Continue to the secret pass up the mountain from the last quest, Death Plateau.

    Step 2

  3. A way up the path will fork off, climb over the rocks and head east, go inside the Arena Gate and speak to "Dad" he will tell you need to fight him to continue on, accept his challenge.

    Step 3

  4. Turn on protect from melee, and fight him, use your best attacks on him up until you kill him, he will hit you hard if you don't have protect from melee on. He smashes you and you'll go flying into a wall nearby, he hits you from 7-11 and from flying into the wall he hits you 15-25. There is a couple safe places to use range or magic, one is near the gate, although it doesn't always work.

    Step 4

  5. Once he's nearly dead he will forfeit. I highly recommend you go back and charge your prayer points, or use a prayer potion. Just make sure you have full prayer. If you have to leave and get full prayer then he will not speak to you again.

  6. After defeating dad, (and you have full prayer) continue out the exit to the north, enter a cave in the shape of a horseshoe, run North to the exit. Don't bother fighting the trolls in the cave - you will only waste hitpoints you may need later. Leave the cave.

  7. Now you be in a huge thing that looks like a spiral on the outside. Stay on the outer part of the spiral, don't get curious and go up it. Once you go so far, you will see a group of thrower trolls, turn protect from missiles on and run by.

  8. Enter the next area; it looks like a troll market place. Run all the way north and go inside the stronghold.

    Step 8

  9. Go into the entrance and find a wooden door on the west wall. Do not go up and down any stairs yet - you may get lost.

    Troll Map

  10. Open the door and make your way north until you come to one of the generals. Turn on protect from melee and attack. Try to range if you can. When you beat him he will drop a prison cell key.

    Step 10

  11. Exit the area back through the wooden door and then head North to the staircase marked green on the map.

  12. On arriving on the next floor you will see a prison cell to the east. Open the cell door and use the staircase inside.

    Step 12

  13. Travel south until you see two trolls. Attempt to pickpocket the trolls to get cell keys 1 and 2. If your pickpocket fails then they will attack. There is no stun. Killing the trolls will also obtain the two keys.

    Step 13

  14. Unlock the cell doors and follow the escaping prisoners south to the stronghold exit.

    Step 14

  15. Walk south and east climbing up and down rocks as needed until you return to Tenzings hut. It can be quite useful to collect feathers here undisturbed.

  16. Follow the route back to Burthorpe and speak Dunstan in the smithy. Quest Complete!
