Slayer is a skill wherein a Slayer Master assigns you a certain number of a creature to kill. Once given your task, you will be expected to complete it either solo or with a partner.
If you choose to, you can enable a counter to display your current Slayer/Reaper task, your Slayer/Reaper points, and your current task streak - or just the number left in your assignment. This interface can be expanded or condensed by Right-clicking and choosing "shrink" or "expand". This is also how you toggle between your Slayer and Reaper task display. To enable this counter: go to your Options (gear icon), Settings, Skills tab, and find it under Slayer; it is the dropdown box along the top.
For lists of which monsters each Slayer Master assigns click on the Slayer Master's name in the table below.

Several Slayer monsters have the ability to force a task to be assigned by a Slayer Master. This is done by wearing a special mask when you go to get a new task. Note that only a slayer master that typically assigns this creature can be forced to assign you this task; for example you cannot force Morvran to assign Crawling hands because they are not normally assigned by him. It is possible to check how long until you can force a task again by right-clicking the mask and selecting "Check Kills".
While wearing the mask the following bonuses apply...
- when getting a new task, will guarantee that you get that monster as your next assignment (once per every so many days depending on the specific mask).
- use it to teleport to locations where these monsters can be found (twice per day).
- it will keep track of how many of that monster you have killed.
- grant bonus damage and Slayer experience when killing them.
- when not on task, you will still gain Slayer experience.
- every 10th kill within the limit, you will get double the normal loot.
- acts as a Face mask.
Once you have reached a certain amount of kills while wearing the mask (the amount varies), it will become a helm. At this point it will retain similar benefits, but no longer provide bonus experience, extra damage, nor double drops. You can choose to have it appear as the mask or helm as well. It is possible to reset your number of kills on a Helm by using a Spirit of Battle on it.
*Cooldown is shared amongst these masks/helms.
+You will need to unlock the ability for this Slayer Masters to assign these tasks (toggled in the Slayer Master Rewards menu)
Various monsters can be substituted for another variety of their kind and count toward your current Slayer task. For example, Giant bats can be killed in place of regular Bats, or Brutal green dragons can be killed in place of Green dragons, etc. If the substitute has a higher Combat level than the assigned monster, the player will receive more Slayer and Combat experience for the task.
Note that monsters found inside a Player-owned house will not count towards a task.
Please see our Slayer Monster page for a full list of Slayer monsters in Gielinor.
Some slayer monsters now have a chance to spawn Elite monsters after killing them. These elite monsters drop 3 times the normal loot and 220% more slayer exp, however, these monsters hit harder than the normal slayer monsters (Protection Prayer/Curse are recommended while fighting!). Each elite monster will have a different Prefix/Suffix in their name. See the table below for examples.
Prefix | Slayer monsters that spawn elites | Suffix |
Cruel Dangerous Infamous Monstrous Notorious Powerful Renowned |
Abyssal demon Ankou Aquanites Cave horrors Cow Dark beast Dust devil Earth warrior Greater demon Hobgoblin Infernal mage Harpie bug swarm Nechryael Waterfiend |
of Death of Doom of Fear of Pain of Peril of Suffering |
In the dungeons of Daemonheim, there are certain monsters that will require a certain slayer level to kill. They all have unique item drops, and these items have their own uses. The higher the slayer level, the more useful the items will be to you.
Name | Combat level | Slayer level required |

Crawling Hand | 11, 18 | 5 | Silver Precision Bracelet Golden Precision Bracelet |
Cave Crawler | 53, 74, 78 | 10 | Sunstriker Boots Marksman Boots |

Several items can increase your chances of receiving improved drops from certain Slayer Monsters. Note that tiers 1, 2, and 3 will only increase drop chances for the monsters listed; tier 4 will increase the drop chance for everything on the table.
When you are sent to kill any regular type of monster and aren't sure where to find it, check RuneHQ's Monster Database. However, there are several sites with a concentration of the Slayer Masters' favorite monsters, which are also listed in the Slayer Monsters Table above.
-
Located North West of Canifis is the Slayer Tower. This place houses Abyssal demons and other slayer monsters. The Tower is located North of the Fairy Ring code C-K-S or you can teleport directly to it using a Ring of Slaying.
-
Kuradal has her own personal Slayer dungeon containing several of the monsters she assigns. To access it, you must be assigned one of these monsters. Obtaining and equipping a Ferocious ring in the dungeon will add extra damage to your attacks.
-
The Polypore Dungeon is a special dungeon found North East of the Mage Training Arena or via the Fairy Ring code B-I-P. It contains various monsters such as Grifolaroo and Ganodermic beasts. These are all highly resistant to Melee and Ranged attacks, but weak to Magic attacks.
-
The Lumbridge Swamp Dungeon is located in Lumbridge Swamp, far South East of Draynor Village.
-
Near the Golden Apple Tree, South East of Rellekka, resides the entrance to the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon. The dungeon can be quickly reached via the Fairy Ring code A-J-R or Ring of Slaying teleport.
-
The Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon lies deep beneath the Dorgesh-Kaan city. You can quickly access this dungeon via the Fairy Ring code A-J-Q.
-
Upon completion of the Smoking Kills quest you unlock the access to the Desert Slayer Dungeon.
-
Located in the Gem Mine, is the mighty Gemstone Dragon Dungeon. Inside are the 3 types of gemstone dragons. Dragonstone, Onyx, and Hydrix dragons. In order to access this dungeon, you need at least 95 Slayer and completed Karamja hard tasks.
-
After completion of Icthlarin's Little Helper, you can access the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon located in Sophanem. It contains several types of corrupted creatures and soul devourers (akh) as well as a boss, The Magister. Killing monsters in this dungeon requires at least level 88 Slayer in order to damage the monsters within and that you have 1 Feather of Ma'at per kill.
-
Found originally by investigating a stone near the Incandescent wisp colony, the Lost Grove offers access to 3 types of slayer monsters. After repairing the circle and discovering it, you can travel to the Grove via Fairy Ring code B-J-S.
- After completion of Dishonour among Thieves, you will be able to access Zamorak's Hideout via the Communication device. Once at the hideout, you will need to go through the Western door to enter the Stalker Dungeon. Here you will find 20 Seeker and 10 Soulgazer. It is possible to spawn both Soulgazer (Elite) and Veil-ripper Ozharakha by throwing a Seeker's charm into the portal at the North end of the room.
Slayer points are awarded upon completion of your 5th and every following task. The amount of points awarded depends upon which Slayer Master assigned the task (see table below). You are allowed to mix and match between Slayer Masters e.g complete 4 tasks for Chaeldar and then your 5th task for Duradel. This way you will receive the points Duradel normally grants after 5 of his tasks. If you are using this method to obtain more Slayer points, do not use Turael/Spria as they reset your counter to 0.
From the 5th task on, you will recieve the same set of points for every task assigned. Every 10th and 50th task are special cases where you receive bonus points. Every 10th task grants you 5 times the normal points upon completion and after every 50th task you recieve 15 times the normal amount of points.

The table below outlines the points awarded by each Slayer Master upon completion of a task (note that you will only receive half of the full points reward until you have completed Smoking Kills).Slayer master | Points Per Task |

The number of monsters you can add to your "Block" list is determined by your quest points. You need 50 points to ignore 1 monster, 100 points for 2, 150 points for 3, 200 points for 4, and 300 points for 6.
After completing several tasks in a row for a single Slayer Master, they may offer you a special challenge. They will reward you with a chunk of experience and Reward Points if you manage you successfully complete it. Slayer Codex and Sunken Pyramid (Player-Owned Dungeon)
Once 99 Slayer is obtained you can talk to Faiza to obtain a Slayer codex. This allows you to collect souls in an Ushabti and add them to the chest in the Sunken Pyramid or add them to your Player-Owned Dungeon.
If you are looking for more of a challenge, you can take on a task assigned by Death. Please see our Soul Reaper Special Report for more information.
-
If you feel you can not defeat the higher level enemies, try some of these alternatives:
- Birds - Chickens
- Black dragons - Baby black dragons
- Blue dragons - Baby Blue Dragons
- Kalphites - Kalphite Workers
- Red dragons - Baby Red Dragons
- Trolls - Lower Level Trolls
- Wolves - White Wolf Mountain Low Level Wolves
-
If there is an assignment that you feel you cannot perform, go to Turael/Spria before starting, or during, your task and you can be given a new task; this one you must complete. When you are done with that assignment you may return to your previous Slayer Master. Note that obtaining a task from them resets the number of completed tasks to 0 and does not count toward accumulating tasks. Spending slayer points to cancel your task is another option if you wish to presereve your tasks completed count.
