Introduction:

In and around the great walled city of Menaphos, there are several things which the Grand Library have lost their records of. Speaking with Assistant Librarian Subotai, he will give you a Menaphos journal in order to record information on these things for them. The things that you will need to find and make note of are Cats, Insects, and Jewels of the Elid.

Note: If you locate any of these things before receiving a Menaphos journal, you will need to locate them again! Thus it is highly recommended to speak with Assistant Librarian Subotai, West of the Merchant District Market, as soon as possible.

Cats of Menaphos:

Below you will see the list of the Cats of Menaphos. Some of these kitties can only be found on a certain day of the week, some are locked behind certain levels of Reputation, and others will require you to be performing certain actions to find.

Petting the cat will add it to your list and talking to it will provide extra dialogue, if you are wearing a Catspeak amulet or a Cramulet (+ cat and camel). Much like in Penguin Hide And Seek, the wandering cats can be trapped within buildings, or you can keep them still by choosing to talk with them.

Nodjmet		Wanders the city every Friday. See Spawn Locations for more information.
Blanchy		Wanders the city every Saturday. See Spawn Locations for more information

Location Locked Cats
Anukat		Found in the VIP skilling area of the Imperial District.
Catsanova		Locked within a house in the North East cornerof the Merchant District. To access, you must have Tier 5 Merchant Reputation.
Oedipuss		Locked within a house in the West side of the Port District. To access, you must have Tier 5 Port Reputation.
Qat		Locked within a house in the North West corner of the Imperial District. To access, you must have Tier 5 Imperial Reputation.
Shebit		Locked within a house in the North East corner of the Worker District. To access, you must have Tier 5 Worker Reputation.
Tefimhet		Found at the Soul altar. To access the altar, you must drain the fountain found in Western Imperial District after completing 'Phite Club.
Other Cats
Bestopet		Found within Shifting Tombs when breaking pots.
Jenifurr		Found during Pyramid Plunder when looting sargophagi.
Katarina		Found in the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon when Slaying.
The Postcat		Wanders a path through the Kharidian Desert. The easiest locations to find this cat are outside the Menaphos city gates or within Pollnivneach.

Once you find all 16 cats, you will unlock the following:

• Cat hat - Cosmetic override
• Purrn of previous postcat - given to Faction Leader of your choice to gain 2,500 Reputation for that District
• Ka - can now be found at the Soul Altar

Kalphite wanderer in amber		Found when pick-pocketing the Gullible tourist in the Port District or Menaphite marketeers in the Merchant District Market.

Desert locust		Found when cutting Acadia logs in the VIP area or the Imperial District.
Hornless unicornfly		Found when cutting Acadia logs in the VIP area or the Imperial District.
Kalphite wanderer		Found when cutting Acadia logs in the VIP area or the Imperial District.

Jewels of the Elid

Below you will see the list of the Jewels of the Elid. All of these jewels can be found when skilling or doing activities within the Desert cities of Menaphos and Sophanem.

Alaeite		Obtained from the Riddler crab after answering his riddle correctly. The answer is “crab”.
Aminishi miststone		Bought from the Aminishi gem trader, on the South Port District dock, for one spice from your Player-Owned Port.
Tuai Leit sparkle		Bought from the Tuai Leit gem trader, on the South Port District dock, for 5 Bamboo. Note that this bamboo cannot be bundled.
Waikonite		Obtained by pick-pocketing the Gullible tourist, on the South Port District dock.

Crondite		Found when Mining concentrated sandstone in the VIP area or in the Worker District.
