After completing a lap on one of the above Agility courses, there is a chance that you will be noticed by the Talent scout. When noticed, he will call out to you in the chat box and an arrow will appear over his head. When you talk to him, he will knock you out and you will wake up in The Pit shortly after.
Note: You can only be noticed by the Talent scout once an hour. If you have an Agility cape, Max cape, or Completionist cape, you can access The Pit at any time, as many times as you want, by talking to a Talent scout, however, you will not receive the full experience reward nor be allowed to gamble.
Here in the you will be greeted by Scrambles and Snotgut who will explain what The Pit is and the event you must complete. The event is always chosen at random. If you have not completed that specific event before, you can be shown a short tutorial.
The aim of this event is to make your way from one side of the 'lava' to the other by jumping on the crates. However, some of the crates are unstable and will break when you jump onto them, causing you to fall into the 'lava' and fail the event.
The aim of this event is to correctly guess if the next number is going to be higher or lower than the current number by pressing either the red + button or green - button. If you take too long to pick higher or lower, it will be chosen for you. If you are successful 6 times in a row, you will pass the event.
The aim of this event is to avoid the falling rocks caused by Snotgut's singing. This is done simply by running around and trying to avoid the smaller falling rocks that appear briefly before the larger rocks. After around 40 seconds, the singing will end and you will pass the event.
Put the Thing in the Other Thing!
The aim of this event is to correctly place three shapes in their appropriate slots before time runs out. You only have a short time to complete the event, but it is perhaps the easiest in The Pit as chance does not play a part, you just have to be fast enough.
The aim of this event is to punch sheep until you find the one carrying the key. There are 14 sheep in total, but you only have five chances to find the correct one. If you don't find the key, you will fail the event and the Talent scout will appear and knock you out.
The aim of this event is to search the crates until you find the one containing a key. There are 16 crates, but you only have five changes to find the correct one. If you don't find the key, you will fail the event and the Talent scout will appear and knock you out.
If you succeed in an event, you will find yourself in Snotgun and Scrambles' room. Here you can open the Gambling crate if you wish to gamble for double experience, normal experience, or half experience; the outcomes have an equal chance of occurring. The expected value of gambling is 7/6 X the experience without gambling. In the long run, it is expected that gambling will earn 17% more experience.
The first time you succeed, you will receive a Gorilla mask. In addition to this, you always have the possibility of obtaining a Nimble Skilloutfit piece when completing a round in The Pit. These pieces will grant you +1% experience for each piece worn when skilling. And it will give an extra +1% if you are wearing the full set, thus giving you +6% total. The Nimble set includes:
Note: Accessing the pit with the use of an Agility skillcape, Max cape, or Completionist cape will not give the option to gamble. And the Gorilla mask can be attained by talking to the Talent scout after removing any one of those capes you may be wearing.
Below is a table of the normal experience reward you will receive for Success or Failure in each event:
