One of the best ways to get the most prayer experience out of your bones/ashes is to worship the Ectofuntus. You receive four times the prayer experience per bone/ash compared to the normal burial/scattering. To use the Ectofuntus efficiently, you must have completed the Ghosts Ahoy quest and have the Ectophial at your disposal.
Note: You will not be able to worship more than 511 times without having collected the Ecto-tokens from the Ghost disciple. Once you have collected your Ecto-tokens, go back to the bank and start worshiping again.
Morytania Legs: You can teleport to the slimepit under the Ectofuntus 5 times a day. This applies to legs 2, 3, and 4.
Offering Bones
When you have collected a number of bones, place up to 12 in your inventory and teleport to the Ectofuntus using the Ectophial. Go up the stairs and use the bones on the bone grinder. It will automatically grind all the bones (of one type) in your inventory and give you pots full of the associated Bonemeal. Return to the main floor, then go through the trapdoor to the West. Work your way down to the bottom of the 4 levels. When you reach the bottom, click the slime pool. This will put 12 buckets of slime in your inventory. When you are done, go back to the main floor again - you can use Ectophial for speed. You should have 12 pots of Bonemeal and 12 buckets of slime in your inventory. Click on the Ectofuntus to worship it. There is no action bar to show progress, but it takes approximately 8 seconds to empty your inventory. Repeat the process as much as you you desire!
Offering Ashes
When you have collected a number of ashes, place up to 12 in your inventory and teleport to the Ectofuntus using Ectophial. Descend down the trapdoor to the West and work your way down to the bottom of the 4 levels. When you reach the bottom, click on the slime pit to receive 12 buckets of slime. When you are done, return to the main floor - you can use Ectophial for speed. You should have 12 ashes and 12 buckets of slime in your inventory. Click on the Ectofuntus to worship it. There is no action bar to show progress, but it takes approximately 8 seconds to empty your inventory. Repeat the process as much as you desire!
Player-owned houses brought a new way to gain prayer experience. Depending on the type of altar built and the burners used, one can earn anywhere from 100% to 350% of the experience normally obtained for burying/scattering bones/ashes. 100% means exactly the same experience as just burying. Note that the highest possible level (350%) does not exceed the 400% from the Ectofuntus - however, there is no tedious bucket hauling and bone grinding.
The main feature of the chapel is the altar and incense burners. You can recharge your Prayer in the chapel as normal. There is an important extra feature to the altar: depending on your altar and the number of incense burners you have lit, you will be awarded more Prayer experience for the bones you offer.
Altar Type | Image | No burners lit | One burner lit | Two burners lit |
Oak Altar | 100% | 150% | 200%
Teak Altar | 110% | 160% | 210%

Mahogany Altar | 150% | 200% | 250%
Limestone Altar | 175% | 225% | 275%
Marble Altar | 200% | 250% | 300%
Gilded Altar | 250% | 300% | 350% |
Cremation is an ability unlocked during the 2014 Halloween event for 10,000 reward points. After the event, it can now be obtained as a drop by killing ghosts and ghost-like creatures. It is available to both, free players and members.
The ability allows burning of bones on any player-made fire (permanent fires do not work) and provides 250% Prayer experience per bone, as well as 200% normal burying experience as Firemaking experience. The experienced gained through use of this ability is not stackable with brawling gloves or bonus experience weekends.
Only bones can be used for cremations; ashes do not work.
The Nexus is a Prayer activity in Lumbridge Swamp designed for low-level players. The aim of the activity is to help a druid called Ysondria ward off a creature known as the Grotesque. To begin, claim a Charmed sack from Ysondria and begin to collect corruption from Nexus. Once you've filled the sack with 15 corruption (this increases to a maximum of 25 over time), you will need to purify it using the bowls attached to the four pillars surrounding the Nexus. There are four bowls on each pillar and they each channel a different power:
- Gold bowl - Fealty (white stream)
- Silver bowl - Order (blue stream)
- Bronze bowl - Battle (red stream)
- Pewter bowl - Chaos (purple stream)
The aim here is to turn each of the four streams to an individual colour simultaneously and maintain it until the four streams all turn orange and then disappear. Once you've created the orange streams once, a colored ball of light will appear above each pillar which corresponds to the colour of the stream created at that pillar during the last cycle and means that you cannot use the same bowl on that pillar in the current cycle.
Once you've managed to create the orange streams five times, the Grotesque will appear from the Nexus. Quickly banish it before it disappears and you will given Grotesque bones. When you bury these bones you will receive Prayer experience based on your current level; ranging from 168 XP at level 1 to 1294 XP at level 40 and above. You can earn a maximum of 37,224 XP from the Nexus, which is enough experience for level 1-40.
