A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Man, it is difficult to even describe how much this site and its history means to me. It isn't often that I find out about the passing of people I never directly knew and find it genuinely difficult to hold back the tears.

RuneHQ was more than just a part of the community, it WAS the community during the golden age of something that is still going strong to this very day.

If RS was the Sun in the golden days, RuneHQ would've been Jupiter.

RIP Deb & Gene and thank you for the memories.

As I'm getting older, these kind of moments hurt more - or maybe they just happen more often.

I didn't know Deb or Gene but I knew their website. And I know that even though I didn't know them, I'm sad they're gone. I'm sad that what they built has reached its end. I'm sad about most things when they end.

But I'm glad that there's other people here who share those feelings. And I'm glad that we can all express them here, even if for a short time.

This site has brough me from a simple kid in middle school not knowing what to do in monkey madness to, doing the quest over and over for friends since they didn't know how to navigate the quest guide. RuneHQ is one of those site's that to any runescaper felt comfortable using since, the skill guides, quest guides, minigames and much more help so many players from newbies to hardcore grinders get their first start in this MMO. Deb & Gene thank you for being a big part on why this game and this community feels great to me. Much love from Dragon

Thank you for the support over the years. I have a vivid memory of discovering Runehq when I was researching item prices back in 2006. Be at peace, God bless.

2006-2012 Sal’s was the go to for RuneScape! It felt like home as a kid, as so many people researched and figured out our favorite game.

Just a fellow visitor reminiscing fondly on adventures with my friends as a kid and accomplishments fueled by the work done here. Countless pages were printed at school and will forever be remembered as one of the best times of my childhood.

Thank you to everyone

This website, when my friends told me about it, felt like a rolodex of cheat codes. Thanks for all the help over the years!

Obviously times pass and everything will eventually move on. I used runehq to look at cool monsters, items and calculators. Thankyou for being one of the early sources of information for a game that shaped my childhood.
