A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Me and my brother played RuneScape together for nearly 20 years before he passed away. This website was one of our main sources of information for questing, skilling and anything RuneScape related when we were kids. I continued to passively visit the site off and on through the years and heard about the closing of the site through Facebook. The internet was different back then. No one knew for sure how to play the game. Everything was a mystery. Once people got online and shared information, secrets were revealed and the race was on to max your account and complete all the quests for your cape. Me and my brother were able to get the quest cape at the lowest you could-lvl 85 combat. People commented on our capes, and it definitely felt pretty cool. Luckily this was also when gravestones came out, a novel concept, especially when fighting the Nomad before EoC (iykyk). Thanks for such an amazing dedication to the RuneScape player base. We love you and you will be missed. The impact you made is tangible and we will carry the memories you helped shape in our hearts.

Feels like a nightmare. Literally. This website is imbedded in my childhood. But like all good things, they all must eventually come to an end. What an era, what a run. Legendary is an understatement. Thank you, Deb & Gene, for your extremely positive impact on my life.

My whole childhood… was a lot better because of this site. #cheers

Wish it could last forever. #nestalgia

Thank you Deb, Gene, and everyone over the years for making RuneHQ what it was. A place for new and veteran players of the game to come to and get guidance on their RuneScape journeys. Everybody at RuneHQ has helped shaped the lives of RuneScape players and allowed us to achieve things we could have only ever imagined. Deb, Gene and RuneHQ will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything.

Remember playing RuneScape late 2005 after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina in a town called Hoover Alabama. Friends showed me RuneScape, but I was not great at questing. A friend mentioned RuneHQ and I used it for so many years for questing and information. Sad piece of the games history is going away.

It's been a while since I came here for help the last time, but I have fond memories of the site, back before 2010. Sad to see it go, but glad it's been here in the first place.

I know how it feels to let go a site in which you poured a lot of love, and as such... thank you to everyone that helped keep RuneHQ alive until now.

Rune HQ was without a doubt my #1 resource for many years and helped get me to where I am today in RuneScape. Shoutout to the legends that helped to create this wonderful place. Thank you again for everything :)
