A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Back when I had first started playing RuneScape as a kid in 2005/2006 I remember digging into RuneHq for hours upon hours to help me understand the game as a new player. Big ups to RuneHQ because without it in my early journey, I probably wouldn’t still play today, thank you for all you’ve done for the community.

Growing up in the early 2000s means i played a fair amount of runescape after school. Without RuneHQ i would not have found the community and guidance i needed to fall in love with the game i still play 20+ years later.

RIP to both Deb and Gene - shining lights in a world constantly being covered by shadow.

They will both be dearly missed.

Can not express my heartfelt thankfulness to this site as a kid. I wish Deb and Gene were still here so we could let them know how much all their work meant to us. We will miss this site and miss them.

Where to begin...It's been a heck of a journey. All the crazy times we had in Ventrilo and TeamSpeak for Karaoke night and all the stories that we'll be able to remember years from now. I'd like to say thank you to everyone who gave everything they had for RuneHQ that being the community who took the time to put in guides and the Content Team as well, you all did and amazing job.

On a personal level... Thank you, Gene and Deb, for letting me be a part of the team as a Forum Moderator and Server Administrator for over 17 years, it will always hold a special place with me.

I remember getting the link to RuneHQ from a kid at my elementary school. I greatly looked up to him because he was "so good" at the game - but with RuneHQ guides and tips I also started progressing faster and faster. Thank you for the memories!

Although the site is closing, the RuneHQ Discord and clan will continue, giving the community a place to stay connected and carry on the friendships built here.

It's not goodbye, just a new chapter.
