A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb and Gene seated together, smiling at the camera.
Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ was a pillar of the RuneScape community for years, serving generations of adventurers with the knowledge they needed to become the heroes they are today in Gielinor. I used RuneHQ frequently, along with other sites like Sals and Zybez, helping bridge the gap I had between being a noob and #pwning my Slayer tasks. While it pulls on my heartstrings to see this monument fade into the past, it was an honor to be apart of this quaint corner of the digital world. RuneScape for LIFE!

I never would have made it though so many quests without your help. Deb & Gene will always be in the hearts of the community

RuneHQ was one of the OG fansites that all of us veteran players flocked to in the early days. It had, and still has, some of the best quest guides (the most pictures haha!) and a great community.

Thanks to the team for maintaining it all these years. It is definitely sad to see it go, but I understand how difficult it can be to continue a project when the founders are no longer with us.

Eternal rest grant unto Deb & Gene,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.

As I'm getting older, these kind of moments hurt more - or maybe they just happen more often.

I didn't know Deb or Gene but I knew their website. And I know that even though I didn't know them, I'm sad they're gone. I'm sad that what they built has reached its end. I'm sad about most things when they end.

But I'm glad that there's other people here who share those feelings. And I'm glad that we can all express them here, even if for a short time.

I used this wonderful website for every quest. I always found the guides clear and up to date.
Thank you!

This site has brough me from a simple kid in middle school not knowing what to do in monkey madness to, doing the quest over and over for friends since they didn't know how to navigate the quest guide. RuneHQ is one of those site's that to any runescaper felt comfortable using since, the skill guides, quest guides, minigames and much more help so many players from newbies to hardcore grinders get their first start in this MMO. Deb & Gene thank you for being a big part on why this game and this community feels great to me. Much love from Dragon

Sad to hear of your loss. You will forever live in our hearts and minds. Thank for the help in our quests, now we must fend for ourselves without your wisdom and guidance.

RuneHQ has been and still is my go to for all RuneScape questions, since 2003. This is heartbreaking. I’m sorry for your loss, my condolences. Thank you for everything, and all of your amazing work!
