A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I frequently used RuneHQ to help me with quests back in the mid-2000s. RuneHQ will be sincerely missed.

A fan from Australia for over 20 years! RuneHq was the go to website with quests! Always had one tab open for the game and a second tab open for RuneHq!

Very sad to see it closing down!

I have had the pleasure to use this community for its helpful guides, its quests and many other things. Afterwards even helping RuneHQ in various roles both on the site and ingame. It has been a wild emotional ride which has come to an end but also as a new beginning! For me RuneHQ will always exsist. May RuneHQ rest together with Gene & Deb.

This place was a blessing back in pre-eoc runescape. I never made it very far, but this was always my #1 website for quest guides and clue scrolls. Using the xp calculator and skill calculators are what helped me grind skills out.

RuneHQ was a staple of my and many others time in Runescape. I still remember the first time I heard about it, in 2006 in the stronghold of security. I was at the lowest level minotaurs talking about quests with a guy and he said to "use qhenur" in a comical attempt to get around ostensible rules about advertising websites. From then on it was my one and only website I used for quest guides up until I finally quit rs2.

Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for all your hard work through the years, RuneHQ was my go-to for those early days of quests during my initial membership years.. Always in our minds. Thanks for everything!❤️

Funny to be using the username I would have had when I first used runehq but haven’t had access to in a decade plus. Nonetheless, this was the name I chose as an 11 year old and it was runehq that helped guide my journey through rs for so many years.

Rest in peace Deb and Gene. I hope you and your loved ones know how important and impactful runehq was for so many of us.

I owe a lot to Gene and Deb - they helped kickstart my software development career letting me volunteer as a Site Admin over the years and definitely took a chance in letting a then-14 year old create and run the RuneHQ Clan. I can only imagine how often I was a thorn in MrStormy’s side, but I like to think we both benefitted from each other’s stubbornness, and ultimately I believe it paid off with just how much amazing content RuneHQ was able to develop and release over the years. It’s sad to see them gone, but the memories the community made together because of them will live on for years to come.
