A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I recently returned to Runescape after being away for nearly 20 years. It's been a magical and nostalgic experience, getting to relive this game with my sister. Almost immediately I came back to RuneHQ and it brought back so many memories of staying up late into the night on some ridiculous rune essence grind, flipping between calculators counting the hours to get my skills high enough.

RuneHQ taught me the game. I'm sure every free-to-play quest, every part I built on my house, and every skill I trained was influenced by what I read here. It's sad to see it go, but so special to read the impact it had on so many people.

Rest in peace and much love,
- Nikc

Opening this website brought me back to my childhood. Running home from school with my best friend so we can try Monkey madness again with the help of the QuestGuides! After many hours of bad English reading comprehension and many trials and errors we finally made it!

We were hyped for the pictures in the guide to help us understand the objectives. RuneHQ was like a second home to me. helped me navigate a complex game with my friends.

Those early memories have now to this day inspired me to me a wiki contributor. fixing minor mistakes and adding some niche information. I cant express how much RuneHQ meant to me when I grew up and how it has shaped values when it comes to online community. If I am able to have a sliver of the impact RuneHQ had. I would be fulfilled with my life.

You have carried me through all stages of Runescape life. from Romeo and Juliet and Dragon Slayer all the way through Fremmenik trails and Monkey madness

From the bottom of my heart Thank you!

This was my go to website for many years from the mid 2000s until Eoc times. The way the quest guides and other walkthroughs were written was better for me than any other and the npc/item database was the best of its kind in those times for me. While I wasn't involved in the community around this website and the fantastic people who have built and maintained it for all these years, it was always my home for Runescape information. I'm saddened to hear of the loss of this community and its founders, while they can't see the words I'm typing or the memories in my heart I hope some part of them understood the impact this Information and community hub has had on the many players and people who have come in contact with them over the last 20 odd years.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who made this website and community what it is.

Most of all, Thank you Gene and Deb. May they rest in piece.
