A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Rune HQ was my go-to for all things RuneScape. I remember coming home from school in 3rd grade and browsing the site for tips. If it weren’t for this place, I would never have been able to complete quests. Now, as a 32-year-old man, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything.

RuneHQ is almost the first thing that pops into anyone’s head who has played OSRS since the early days. RuneHQ gave me the confidence I needed as a young kid to tackle on the hard, scary, quests, and fed my curiosity when wanting to learn more about this land we call Gielnor when I was too young to appreciate how big the game was. Thank you for everything. OSRS would be nothing today without RuneHQ, the legacy this site has had on us players is insurmountable.

Thank you all for everything. This website helped me out a ton when I first started all the way back in 2008. I'm sad to see the site go, but I will be forever grateful for the efforts of the many people that have contributed to RuneHQ.

I just wanna say thank you to everyone who helped run this site, maintain it and create content for it.

While it has been a very long time since I've used RuneHQ, I will never forget the endless hours of having it open in another tab back in 2006-2010 as my friends and I would stay up all night playing the game, doing quests and trying to find ways to make some GP.

To the now passed creators, I hope they rest in peace and had a long wonderful life, they created a near perfect website that helped hundreds of thousands of people experience pieces of RuneScape, especially back in its "golden days"!

It's sad to see it go, even though it's not as popular as it once was, I'll never forget the memories it helped create when I was younger, to the remaining staff, I wish you all the best.

Thank you for everything

Thanks for everything. Your guides taught me how to play Runescape, and Runescape introduced me to some of my oldest friends.

Lord Farquad

Had to come back to say thanks. Before all these guides, and LLMs it was you. So thanks:)

Jason

Man this one hurts. A piece of my childhood is going away. Thanks for all the help, wouldn’t be here today still playing without RuneHQ
