A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb and Gene seated together, smiling at the camera.
Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ and Zybez were the pillars back in 07 - the true golden era of MMO's. These two websites carried me so hard. They will both be missed.

Been in the clan 15 years, never could bring myself to leave even when the chats dead because of the memories. I will miss this place.

I am always a late adopter of RuneScape help stuff, having just discovered RuneLite in 2025. I heard about RuneHQ in 2006 through a friend and used it for so many quests. One of my favorite people I frequently saw was "Im4eversmart". It felt awesome actually seeing his name in one of the quest guides as the playing character. Thanks for many years of teaching a noob like me how to play the game.

Thank you guys for making it possible for me as a little kid to enjoy, and progress in such in our favorite fantasy world!

I couldn’t have done the legends quests 20 years ago without this community!

This is sad. I spent a lot of time reading the quest guides here as a teen, and it got me as close as two quests from quest cape Pre RS3. Stopped playing for many many years and have been playing for about a year now. Yet, even after all this time, every time I intend to do a quest, the first thing I always check is RuneHQ! Great site, the Quest guides should get cloned and saved for eternity! Peace.

The day I started playing Runescape, a friend mentioned RuneHQ as the place for Guides and info. A year laterIa joined the forums to help update the info of an item on the site. Shortly after I got promoted to Concent Editor and never left since. Thanks to Gene and Dravan, I was given the trust to work my way up to Content Manager/Admin. Later on I made the switch to becom the Admin of the Events Team and the official RuneHQ Clan. RuneHQ has taught me various skills on how to lead a team along with improving my English, not my native tongue. Here, I have met so many wonderful people. May the spirit of RuneHQ live on.

Thank you so much for everything you have done for this game, the players and for everything you've achieved. I have played this game since classic... I have used rune hq more than I can possibly imagine or count, especially the calculators!
The long nights, mid quest, several web pages open (or dual monitors when osrs was webpage based!)

This website meant a lot to me and made my gaming journey memorable.
Thank you.
Rest In Peace.

without Sals Realm, and eventually Rune HQ, I wouldve never been able to play this game efficiently. This is some seriously heartbreaking news, and I really hope Jagex takes over here and keeps the site at least alive. Thank you Deb, Gene, and everyone else that's helped to keep this site running, I never thought i'd be crying over a runescape guide page and complete strangers.

playing since 2001, Rune HQ user since 2003

I used RuneHQ for years as a kids up until adulthood. Without it I don't think I would have gotten to where I was.

Thank you for everything you did for the community through the years.

It's not goodbye, just a new chapter.
