A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Used to use the site almost daily when I played, I wouldn't have finished Dragon Slayer without it. I have fond memories of getting on the Ventrilo server, hanging out and making friends with people I'd have never met if it wasn't for this website and the wonderful community that surrounded it. Thank you for everything, Deb and Gene <3

23 yr visitor, i will miss RUNE HQ greatly.

Thank you Deb, Gene, and the entire RuneHQ team. For years sites like yours, Sal’s, and Zybez were the backbone of RuneScape 2’s frontier years. You will be missed but your legacy will carry on.

A long time ago I was a part of the RuneHQ clan and events team before I went off to college. I got my completionist cape in 2015 posting my progress on the forums by using RuneHQ's quest guides. I had plenty of fun hanging around in the IRC and Teamspeak (or was it Ventrilo, my memory fails me a little). The IRC crew helped me get my 120 dungeoneering back when it was the only 120. I loved dungeoneering but wouldn't have a full squad nearly as often if it weren't for RuneHQ. We got so many hexhunter bows together and helped so many people get them too. I also wouldn't have found a love for high level bossing if it weren't for the Teamspeak (or was it Ventrilo) RuneHQ fellas first teaching me Araxxor and then frequent Vorago, Raids, ROTS, etc. When I came back to the game I had 84 Vorago kills and no idea how to beat him. Thank you to Double D Edd, Kassandra, Prelations, Darvin, Witch King of Angmar, many more I am forgetting, and of course, Kunio, my former neighbor and great longstanding friend who helped me reacquaint myself with the new discord and events team. Maybe the site is going away but I hope to join more events in the future and play with Kunio and the rest of the gang for as long as I play Runescape.

Thank you for the help since 2004 for me. I was so proud to have an item submitted in and have my name attached to it since. It's been a pleasure

A Farewell to Our Community

Thank You

To our visitors, members, guide writers, donors, moderators, staff, and friends: thank you for every question answered, every guide improved, every discussion shared, and every friendship formed.

RuneHQ was more than a website. It was a community, and that was always because of you.

Although the site is closing, the RuneHQ Discord and clan will continue, giving the community a place to stay connected and carry on the friendships built here.

It's not goodbye, just a new chapter.
