A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb and Gene seated together, smiling at the camera.
Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ was fundamental to my teen years! I joined the forum on my 13th birthday and forged so many friendships in my early years on the forum. Was my go-to for RS stuff back when I was super active. I got my first (and still my only 99 after 20 years of playing!) because of advice I got through RuneHQ. I got my degree based on people I talked to on RuneHQ. Devastated to hear about both Gene and Deb who were both unwaveringly kind and cultivated an incredible community that I still think about fondly to this day. Thank you to everyone on RuneHQ for the incredible community you managed to make and the incredible memories that I still think about to this day almost 15 years later. Also a special shoutout to Lester and his brother who taught me about how grammar worked in the IRC channel back in the day - your explanation is still the difference I think of whenever I type them out!

Old user, used to be events team for a short time... was also a RuneHQ Radio DJ for a few months before it closed

I remember the very first day I logged onto RuneScape. It felt like I’d stepped into another world as a kid. I also remember the first day I stumbled upon RuneHQ and how much it helped and changed the game for me. RIP to 2 absolute legends and pioneeers of the RuneScape culture.

Thank you for helping me achieve my goals! I couldn't begin to quantify the number of hours your guides saved me. From Cook's Assistant, to wearing my first rune plate body... Wishing you all the best <3 :')

RuneHQ, Tip.it, and Sal’s Realm were my go to’s in the late 2000’s for RuneScape information. This page will always be a reminder of simpler times in my youth when efficiency wasn’t key and we were just playing a game to have fun

Thank you for the guides and memories I made when I first made the jump to membership back in 2006. Your guides shaped how I did quests back in the day and made my childhood that much more special. The friends I’ve made when I recommended RuneHQ to others were countless, I’ll forever cherish the memories from the quest guides, treasure trail guides, calculators and much more.

Thank you for 23 years of service. I vividly remember using your site as a kid to get through all of the quests my brother and I were doing. We used your site constantly and without it, our Runescape journeys would have been much harder.

You helped people like us grow into the adventurers we are today, and for that, I can never thank you enough. ♥

RuneHQ is where I came for all the guides and planning back in ‘06-‘08. While I moved on to other sites and tools, the early days visiting here when no where else had the info was key to me enjoying the game.
Thanks for all the guides and tools and being there in the early days.

I'm happy to have been apart of this community and got to experience RuneHQ back in the early 2000s up to the late 2010s. This was the best website for all things RuneScape! You needed a detailed guide about a quest you were struggling with? This website had detailed guides, images and very useful information to help you get the job done. You need guides regarding minigames? They got you covered. God bless Deb and Gene, I hope you are doing well in heaven! Thank you for all of the memories!

This site got me through achieving my quest cape back in 2007. There’s no way I would have made it without the folks who poured their time and energy into making something for other people.

Thanks for all the memories.

Thanks for guiding my dumb ass through the game as kid. This site was the king!
