A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb and Gene seated together, smiling at the camera.
Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Thank you all for the important work you did in supporting the RS3/OSRS community for over two decades. The community you helped to build up around this game has meant the world to me and I'm forever grateful for your work in it.

Thank you for all you've done to help me on my journey. From a humble noob, to a sub-par pvmer. Trim comp wouldn't have been possible.

I spend many many hours of my life in RuneHQ's IRC back in 2006-2010. RIP RuneHQ, you will be fondly missed!

I have worked at RuneHQ when I was about 13-14 years old and it was a highlight of my life. I learned so much working here and it helped me get a job in IT. MrStormy and Deb were nothing but gracious to me, even helping me out when I was down. MrStormy believed in me enough to let me try running my own HQ fansite for another MMO that was cancelled called Gods and Heroes. I learned SO MUCH about how to run a website, and how to be a leader. I will miss RuneHQ but it will forever live in my heart.

I've always been a RSC player, but appreciate all you did for everyone across all the years of Runescape. We will never forget. 💚

I joined the community many years ago, around 2010, and had the pleasure of working for and eventually leading the Events Team. We had such an amazing time hosting events for everyone, whether they were minigames, boss masses, or just hide and seek. When I eventually became a Manager and Site Administrator, I met Deb, Gene and Draven and worked with them to ensure that our events were running smoothly. In 2013, we handed out some RuneHQ branded stress knights at RuneFest. If you still have one of those, it was me! :P

Sadly due to real life commitments (Yes, I was a student in those days!) I eventually landed a full time job and found that I had less time to organise stuff, so I had to step down, but I fondly look back on those days with such nostalgia.

I'd like to thank everyone that I met along the way. King_of_Alba, Lilroo503, Double_D_Edd, Kunio, Cowlover, Sliver, Alfawarlord, Bazzy, Superfly, Mark, and many, many more! (Sorry if I forgot to mention you!) We had such amazing banter on Ventrilo back in the day. (I should really join the discord. XD)

Much love!

The end of an Era. Absolute phenomenal legacy to have left behind and one that shaped a lot of peoples lives and gameplay experience. It will be missed but never forgotten!

FlameOfZen

I frequently used RuneHQ to help me with quests back in the mid-2000s. RuneHQ will be sincerely missed.

I have had the pleasure to use this community for its helpful guides, its quests and many other things. Afterwards even helping RuneHQ in various roles both on the site and ingame. It has been a wild emotional ride which has come to an end but also as a new beginning! For me RuneHQ will always exsist. May RuneHQ rest together with Gene & Deb.

It's not goodbye, just a new chapter.
