A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

As a kid, that was the place i chose yo help my in my journey, handheld me through quests i could never completed without a companion like RuneHQ.

Thanks for all the help when i was a kid. I vividly remember using the guide to complete the vampyre questline, with the laberintic city.

Farewell, partner.

Thank you. While I never truly knew who created RuneHQ or the people who dedicated their time to maintaining it, I’m realizing now just how much I took something so special for granted.

Growing up playing RuneScape, RuneHQ was a huge part of my childhood. It was always there when I got stuck on a quest, needed guidance, or wanted to discover something new. I never thought about the people behind it. I just assumed it would always be there.

Now, knowing those people are gone and facing the possibility of losing RuneHQ itself, memories I didn’t even realize I still had are flooding back. It’s a strange kind of grief, realizing something you thought was just a website was actually woven into some of the happiest years of your life.

I wish I had appreciated it more. Not just the website, but the countless hours of dedication from people who helped shape the childhoods of players like me, without ever expecting anything in return.

To everyone who made RuneHQ possible, thank you. You may never have known my name, but you were part of my life in ways I never fully understood until now.

It’s heartbreaking how we sometimes don’t recognize the value of something until we’re faced with losing it. RuneHQ wasn’t just a resource for a game. It was a piece of growing up, and one I’ll carry with me forever.

Rest in peace, and thank you for the memories.

Thank you for everything. When I was in high school, I would get onto RuneHQ in the computer lab to stayed connected to RuneScape when I couldn’t play the actual game on school servers. It is a place that brings memories of a simpler time and a place that I fondly remember 20 years later.
