A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I really loved being apart of the team back in the late 2000's-early 2010's and briefly reconnected with a few people a few years ago before life got in the way. I've mostly moved to WOW these days over Runescape but RuneHQ will ALWAYS have a memory in my heart as my first online community I was apart of in my teenage years and I still checked in once in a while to see if the site was around. Truly sad to see such a great community closing but completely understandable; Thanks for all the memories and I wish the best for everyone!

I just found out about this shutdown taking place. This was one of a few RuneScape fansites I used to help me along my noob journeys from questing to skilling. Admittedly, I haven't used this site regularly in years but I'm still sad to see it go. Farewell!

Wouldn't have fell in love with the game as hard as I did without RuneHQ.

The game wouldn't have been the same without it.

Thank you for everything.

Thanks for so many years of helping me when I was a child playing RS. The thoughts of coming on this site when I was younger make me feel warm inside.

Between RuneHQ & Tip.it, I always had an available resource in my teens to rely on. The information especially on RuneHQ was amazing and I was always appreciative of the time and effort the team went through to produce it, especially in the early days. Thanks Deb & Gene and the team.

RuneHQ was fundamental to my teen years! I joined the forum on my 13th birthday and forged so many friendships in my early years on the forum. Was my go-to for RS stuff back when I was super active. I got my first (and still my only 99 after 20 years of playing!) because of advice I got through RuneHQ. I got my degree based on people I talked to on RuneHQ. Devastated to hear about both Gene and Deb who were both unwaveringly kind and cultivated an incredible community that I still think about fondly to this day. Thank you to everyone on RuneHQ for the incredible community you managed to make and the incredible memories that I still think about to this day almost 15 years later. Also a special shoutout to Lester and his brother who taught me about how grammar worked in the IRC channel back in the day - your explanation is still the difference I think of whenever I type them out!

Old user, used to be events team for a short time... was also a RuneHQ Radio DJ for a few months before it closed

I remember the very first day I logged onto RuneScape. It felt like I’d stepped into another world as a kid. I also remember the first day I stumbled upon RuneHQ and how much it helped and changed the game for me. RIP to 2 absolute legends and pioneeers of the RuneScape culture.
