A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

After spending my whole childhood and even a large majority of adulthood thus far playing RuneScape I can’t tell you how many times I went out to look on RuneHq. The time and dedication put into this website and everything about it was unmatched. Forever grateful. Thank you

RuneHQ was amazing for me. I have so many fond memories of early Runescape circa 2005-2007. RuneHQ is right up there with Thottbot for World of Warcraft. It's sad to see this come to a close, but I'm happy that I'll always have the memories. Thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes on RuneHQ!

Thanks for all the work over the years. First visited this website back in 2006, and continued to use for many years. Without RuneHQ, I think we’d of all struggled with the quests as kids.

Wishing you both, and all involved, all the best!

So sad to hear the news. I had a blast the few years I was here, and it started a life interest in software engineer to which is my livelihood now. Special thanks to those that used to hang out on IRC!

Thanks Deb and Gene for everything. 23 years! I still remember finding runehq as a noob back in original old school RuneScape… the easiest to follow guides.

Thank you for everything.

RuneHQ was there for me in the days of RS2 and OSRS. While I slowly made my way to OSRS Wiki, the guides carried a sense of nostalgia that I had been seeking, and I would occasionally visit them to feel like a kid again. Thank you all for everything.
