A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

This was such a childhood staple to always log in to Runehq and use the Blazekit (I hope I remembered that correctly). Nevertheless, I know Runehq had their own client and I would talk to staff all the time (it was kinda like Swiftkit/Swiftswitch), but dang the memories. So sad to see this website go as it will definitely be missed.

I wish you guys all the best! This loss hurts my inner child :(

What to even say, not really a day anyone would have thought would come around really. Well, the website really introduced me to a lot of things, in 2009 I became a Radio DJ and learnt how to stream my own music to a website (Even hosting a 10 hour loop of Friday - Rebecca Black when it was April 1st), to how to edit new posts and moderate forums. My second run as a forum moderator under James was when I really got to grips with how much the website really meant to Gene and Deb, Gene had just returned and dragged everyone into TeamSpeak for a massive staff meeting, which in the end resulted in myself not sleeping until 8am the next day. His passion for the site, and how much love Gene and Deb both had for each other, was inspiring for us all. As someone who joined RuneHQ over 20 years ago, and became staff around 17 years ago, life has it's way of drawing you back no matter what direction you head in. I have no regrets over my time spent on RuneHQ, and would do it all again in the next lifetime. Save me a beer up there Gene, I'm heading to your table when I get there.

Thank you for all the years of help, I remember finishing school coming home to do quests (elemental workshop the worst of them) and relying on runehq along with the 1-99 guides

Thank you RuneHQ. From Singapore. Used your quest guides and knowledge library since 2006. I was 10 back then! Hopefully we can have an archived version of this website and keep it running. Happy to donate and I’m sure many of us want to see it running indefinitely.

I have used runehq as a resource for an eternity. Memories of late night middle school evenings spent up pouring through the database. I'm now 35 and will forever cherish the memories made on runescape with the help of rune hq. Thanks for the great memories il never forget.

Thank You

To our visitors, members, guide writers, donors, moderators, staff, and friends: thank you for every question answered, every guide improved, every discussion shared, and every friendship formed.

RuneHQ was more than a website. It was a community, and that was always because of you.

Although the site is closing, the RuneHQ Discord and clan will continue, giving the community a place to stay connected and carry on the friendships built here.

It's not goodbye, just a new chapter.
