A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

So sad to hear the news. I had a blast the few years I was here, and it started a life interest in software engineer to which is my livelihood now. Special thanks to those that used to hang out on IRC!

Thanks Deb and Gene for everything. 23 years! I still remember finding runehq as a noob back in original old school RuneScape… the easiest to follow guides.

Thank you for everything.

RuneHQ was there for me in the days of RS2 and OSRS. While I slowly made my way to OSRS Wiki, the guides carried a sense of nostalgia that I had been seeking, and I would occasionally visit them to feel like a kid again. Thank you all for everything.

I was probably a daily visitor of this site when I was a kid just starting Runescape. This was my source of truth for the game. I used it for everything from looking up NPCs and items to printing off multiple quest guides for me and my friends.

Runescape provided an escape for me as a middle-schooler in a rough home and I would not be playing today had I not found RuneHQ all those years ago. The site helped me navigate through the mysterious and wonderful world of Gielinor which in turn helped me navigate through difficult times in my life.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to RuneHQ over the years. The number of lives you've impacted all over the world, in ways you could never imagine, is an incredible legacy.

Rest in well deserved peace, Deb and Gene.

This site was my childhood. I started playing RS in '04, and didnt have a clue what I was doing. This site helped me navigate that world when it was so new. Deb and Gene, you did the lord's work for 23 years, helping out noobs find their way across Gielinor. Thank you, for all the hard work and dedication.

As a kid I loved to quest and the only way I ever made it through most of them was with RuneHQ. RuneScape was my escape from a world full of stress and anxiety. Thank you for guiding me on my many adventures in Gielinor! Rest in peace!
