A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I was probably a daily visitor of this site when I was a kid just starting Runescape. This was my source of truth for the game. I used it for everything from looking up NPCs and items to printing off multiple quest guides for me and my friends.

Runescape provided an escape for me as a middle-schooler in a rough home and I would not be playing today had I not found RuneHQ all those years ago. The site helped me navigate through the mysterious and wonderful world of Gielinor which in turn helped me navigate through difficult times in my life.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to RuneHQ over the years. The number of lives you've impacted all over the world, in ways you could never imagine, is an incredible legacy.

Rest in well deserved peace, Deb and Gene.

This site was my childhood. I started playing RS in '04, and didnt have a clue what I was doing. This site helped me navigate that world when it was so new. Deb and Gene, you did the lord's work for 23 years, helping out noobs find their way across Gielinor. Thank you, for all the hard work and dedication.

Thank you.

I finally... stopped lurking.

Lurker of 23 Years

I began my Runescape journey in 2006 at 10 years old, and I frequented RuneHQ for quests like One Small Favour, Underground Pass, and Elemental Workshop. At one point, I remembered that when a quest came out I was usually tracking RuneHQ because of their dedication and speed to trailblaze these quests and guides for us.
I am sorry for this community's loss, and I appreciate being able to share a sentiment to my memories here.
It's odd turning 30 this year and feeling like we're all experiencing the end of a great era where people like Deb & Gene worked for us gamers out of love rather than monetization of our shared interests.

Thank you for all the great knowledge you shared with us! May your stories live on in OSRS history as one of the greatest guides on the web in the early 2000’s!!!! Much love to the RuneHQ Family and Friends!!! May we all remember the long nights reading quest guides and how-to’s!!!!!

OSRS player from the start!

Thanks for all y’all have done. Back then questing really sucked, you guys made it easier.

I will never forget Rune HQ. It was what kept me engaged in questing back on RS2 while going through middle and high school. My high-school library printer went "buuuuuur" printing out countless pages of quest guides. I wore that thing out. Haha. This website was the foundation of my progression in a game I grew up loving and love to this day. Much love and many thanks!!
