A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ was the first place that I really wanted to help the community. It was an amazing team to be apart of that I will always remember. RuneHQ was also the reason that I got to attend RuneFest in 2013, which is something I will always be grateful for as it was an experience I will never forgot. Although I'm not part of RuneHQ anymore it is still extremely sad to see that it is closing its doors for the final time. It will always be remembered as one of the great RuneScape communities and help sites. RIP :(.

I used RuneHQ for years as a kids up until adulthood. Without it I don't think I would have gotten to where I was.

Thank you for everything you did for the community through the years.

Using my original Runescape username from when I started playing in 2007. I was just a kid at the time and I had the hardest time figuring out how to do quests. My cousin showed me RuneHQ and the rest is history. RuneHQ was my go-to site and always had it open in a separate tab when exploring Gielinor. I'm glad to learn who was behind this incredible site and give my thanks. RIP Deb & Gene. Thank you for the lifelong nostalgia and god bless your families.

As a kid, that was the place i chose yo help my in my journey, handheld me through quests i could never completed without a companion like RuneHQ.

Thanks for all the help when i was a kid. I vividly remember using the guide to complete the vampyre questline, with the laberintic city.

Farewell, partner.

RuneHQ was hugely influential in its heyday, without RuneHQ and tip.it we wouldn't have had the traditions that led to the fantastic wiki OSRS has today. Thank you for your contributions Deb and Gene, and thank you to the wider RuneHQ team for your work.

Started using in 2005, back then without the information and help from RuneHQ, I think a lot of players would've lost interest in playing RS2, thanks for all your help over the years!

I was first introduced to RuneScape by my best friend sometime around 2005, when we were still in elementary school. I was hooked almost immediately, and nearly 20 years later, I can honestly say I've never truly "quit."

Some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around RuneScape. During recess, a small group of us would make a beeline for the school computers and spend the entire break playing. That is, until the school eventually caught on and banned the website. We managed to find a workaround for a little while by accessing the game through Miniclip, but eventually, that got shut down, too.

So, naturally, we did the next best thing: we started spending our time on RuneHQ. We'd read guides, look up quests, plan our next adventures, and figure out everything we wanted to do the next time we got the chance to log in. Before plugins, YouTube tutorials, and all the other resources we have today, RuneHQ was my go-to source for quest guides and just about anything RuneScape-related.

Looking back, it's amazing how much of my childhood was tied to this game and the community that surrounded it. RuneHQ was more than just a website. It was part of the experience. It helped fuel the excitement, curiosity, and friendships that made those early days of RuneScape so memorable.

It's bittersweet reminiscing about all of this, especially knowing the circumstances surrounding the site's closure and the loss of Deb and Gene. Thank you to everyone who put their time, effort, and passion into making RuneHQ what it was. You helped create something that became a small but lasting part of so many of our childhoods.

Twenty-six years is an incredible legacy. Thank you for the memories. You'll always be a part of my RuneScape story.

RuneHQ was a big part of my childhood growing up playing RuneScape for the first time, I've spent countless hours browsing through the website, sad to see it go but it's crazy to think it's been up for 23 years. Farewell!
