A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Even during my peak playing days, there were times where I spent more time on RuneHQ than I did playing runescape.

Amazing job. RIP

Back when I had first started playing RuneScape as a kid in 2005/2006 I remember digging into RuneHq for hours upon hours to help me understand the game as a new player. Big ups to RuneHQ because without it in my early journey, I probably wouldn’t still play today, thank you for all you’ve done for the community.

I just found out about this shutdown taking place. This was one of a few RuneScape fansites I used to help me along my noob journeys from questing to skilling. Admittedly, I haven't used this site regularly in years but I'm still sad to see it go. Farewell!

Such sad news about closing down but Thank you Gene and Deb for 23 incredible years of dedication to this community. RuneHQ was a massive part of my childhood and my journey through RuneScape. Rest in peace, MrStormy and Weezy. You will never be forgotten by the players you helped along the way.

Fond memories of this site, my first Forum Mod role I remember compliance being taken so seriously here I had to get a Guardian to sign a permission slip for me to be able to actually do it after I got the role. I remember TORC, the iron wars and snowball fights. A crucial part of one's childhood. A lot of names I recognise in the guestbook already (hi Bazzy!).

RIP Gene & Deb.
I also lost track of what happened to Ian last I remember he quit when he started college I hope he's doing well too.

Thanks for making my childhood a tad bit easier. Your guides were very helpful to me. I was always scrolling and reading up on some RS lore while I was here. Rest in paradise to you both.

Thank you so much for all the help you gave me. I used RuneHQ since I was in middle school almost 20 years ago and it was my go to website for all things RuneScape. I’m sad to see it go, but glad it’ll always have a place in my heart especially for the little adventurer in my from my childhood that would use this site to help me learn more about the game I loved so much. Thank you!

I'll always remember the single monitor days; switching back and forth between a RuneHQ quest guide and the game. Thanks for the decades of fun and information!

I'm happy to have been apart of this community and got to experience RuneHQ back in the early 2000s up to the late 2010s. This was the best website for all things RuneScape! You needed a detailed guide about a quest you were struggling with? This website had detailed guides, images and very useful information to help you get the job done. You need guides regarding minigames? They got you covered. God bless Deb and Gene, I hope you are doing well in heaven! Thank you for all of the memories!
