A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

What a journey, this was my main go to for quest guides back when I was 10 years old when I no clue how an MMO functions. RIP Gene & Deb!

Thanks for all the support back in my early days of my RS journey. I always found myself on here when doing a quest or training a skill. The site will go down in history.

RuneHQ was the go-to spot for quest guides back in the day. Without RuneHQ, I would've never finished Dragon Slayer 1 as a kid, and probably wouldn't have enjoyed RuneScape as much as I do. Cheers to Deb and Gene for fueling my lifelong addiction to RuneScape. I wouldn't have it any other way <3

RuneHQ was my preferred guide site as a kid. Though it may have been overshadowed by the wiki in recent times, it will always have a fond place in my heart. Thank you Deb and Gene for supporting a place where the community can learn and share information, rest in peace. RuneHQ may be gone soon, but it won't be forgotten.

This site helped little 7 year old me find my way through Runescape back in the good old days. The game is still great, but I miss the era where everything was a mystery. People played to explore this giant world with fresh eyes, "xp waste" and all the minmax behavior that's become commonplace was the last thing on people's minds. As a kid, this place and other famous forums like Zybez really helped me maximize my enjoyment of the game and get out of tricky situations. I remember one time, I was stuck on Karamja after crashing the glider in The Grand Tree, and I was so distraught because I couldn't find my way out, everything was high level, I was getting poisoned left and right, etc. My dad managed to find this website and thanks to it I made my way safe and sound back to Ardougne.

I miss the innocence and wonder of those times. Thank you for being a part of it.

Been playing Runescape on and off since 2005 and as a kid it would have been very difficult completing any quests without the help of RuneHQ, especially the Recruitment Drive quest which is one of my fondest and happiest memories of finally achieving the white armor set. Thank you Deb & Gene and all the people of RuneHQ for the guides.
