A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I remember using RuneHQ for quest guides way back when I first started playing RuneScape in 2008. One of my core memories of this game is watching my sister complete Underground Pass for the first time, and seeing her alt-tab to a RuneHQ guide mid-way through her journey. Thank you for everything, and I will always remember the fond memories this community gave me.

Hi RuneHQ!
It's been a while.
Once upon a time a younger me, barely 12 years old, discovered this odd funny game everyone at school was suddenly playing. I ventured in and discovered a world full of intricacies, lore, skills, monsters. Oh so many monsters.
Wielded with my trusty steel 2h sword I looked for answers. What exactly is a cabbage and why is the whole of Misthalin covered with them? What's the deal with those goblins in red and green? What were those levers in Melzar's maze up to?
My questions found answers on RuneHQ, with its many guides, magnificent maps and lovely community. Years passed and my searches intensified. I became a warrior, I became a hero. Saved the damsel, saved the city, saved the universe. Without this site, I can't imagine myself coming this far.

This once mere child is now an adult, still fascinated by the many quirks of a British game, still enamoured by the work of its immense and lovely community. I owe a lot to this game, a lot to the community, a lot to RuneHQ, Tip.it, Zybez, LunaGang.

RuneHQ, Deb, Gene, seeing you go is painful, but in a sense, that's part of the next adventure. I wish you all the best, on to the next quest we must all embark!

Thank you for everything. This resource was invaluable to me as a child, and taught me valuable lessons about the wealth of information on the internet, and how to get it. o7 to a real one. We won't forget you all.

I haven't played RS in years and don't think I'll ever return but this site was so helpful when I was playing regularly that it's always stayed present in my memories of those golden days of 'Scape.

Thank you for all who contributed to this site and helped guide me along my adventures in this game as a kid, I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun without you.
