A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Discovering RuneScape in 2005 at the age of 9, this site was a trove of information and a cornerstone of my childhood. Thanks for the memories.

RuneHQ was a key contributor to my early playing days. Starting back in 2004, I don't know if I would've stuck with the game without the guidance of this website. Printing out quest guides and studying them before doing a quest is a core memory I will forever cherish.

Thanks for the memories!

It's a sad time to see another piece of my childhood history disappear. That being said, thanks RuneHQ for all those Skill Calcs and quest helping! You will be missed!

I just wanna say thank you to everyone who helped run this site, maintain it and create content for it.

While it has been a very long time since I've used RuneHQ, I will never forget the endless hours of having it open in another tab back in 2006-2010 as my friends and I would stay up all night playing the game, doing quests and trying to find ways to make some GP.

To the now passed creators, I hope they rest in peace and had a long wonderful life, they created a near perfect website that helped hundreds of thousands of people experience pieces of RuneScape, especially back in its "golden days"!

It's sad to see it go, even though it's not as popular as it once was, I'll never forget the memories it helped create when I was younger, to the remaining staff, I wish you all the best.

Thank you for everything

Back when I was in elementary school (I am now in my 30s and married), I saw the world of Gielinor as amazing, with wonder around every turn. I never knew what amazing thing would happen next. I wasn't able to complete many of the quests by myself, and I always turned to RuneHQ. This website helped me continue to adventure through High School, and I'm not sure I would have kept at it without the aid of this site. I have so many memories of reading through a RuneHQ guide before trying to figure out how to complete a quest.

When The Golem quest first came out, I logged on with excitement in my heart, and the first thing I did was open up RuneHQ. It was always exciting when the guide wasn't ready yet as I felt like I had a chance to beat the quest early.

I did not know Deb and Gene, but they made a huge impact on a small child just looking to adventure with their friends. May their memory be a blessing.

RuneHQ on a chunky 2004 Dell Laptop that would overheat to the point of burning me, next to the in-browser version of runescape.

I will always remember and curse the clue scroll guide for the puzzle boxes. As a kid I would literally spend a full day doing it, and then I would log out and it would reset and I would spend another full day doing it.

Thanks for all the fish - it was an internet that will never return

I have the fondest memories using RuneHQ. One of them in particular was ~2008 at my friends grandparents house with a 2 acre backyard and had a separate dedicated computer room (had 2-3 computers in it) which was absolutely crazy to me because I only had a family computer I had to share with my sister and parents.

Anyways it stood out to me because we got up super early on a Saturday and we hung out in all day in that computer room and pretty much did all day questing using RuneHQ quest guides to help us complete them until like 6-7pm and being SO grateful the RuneHQ guides were available as we both were ready to do Dragon slayer finally- which like many others was the OG goal to wear that juicy Rune Platebody.

RuneHQ you will forever be loved and missed and hope there’s an archive of you to look back on for cherished memories.

Thanks for the memories back in the day. I remember being told off my by Mum in 2007 for wasting ink printing off a walkthrough.

When I started playing Runescape nearly 20 years ago I came here to get help doing all my quests. This site was all a little 10 year old could hope for to get me through the game. RuneHQ walked so the wiki could run. Goodbye to a real one.
