A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

I remember coming home as a kid and logging into rs and right along with it Runehq. Shoot, 20 years later I still use the calcs here. I'm so sad to see this go.

Thank you for everything. <3

The same friend that introduced me to RuneScape pointed me to RuneHQ for quest and skill help. I wasn't old enough to work a job and afford membership for the first 3 years of play, but once I'd knocked out all the f2p quests and didn't have anything else I could do other than grind, I remember how I would often look at the skill guides for members' skills (or members' method for f2p skills) and just imagine what it would be like to do all that fun-looking stuff.

This site helped little 7 year old me find my way through Runescape back in the good old days. The game is still great, but I miss the era where everything was a mystery. People played to explore this giant world with fresh eyes, "xp waste" and all the minmax behavior that's become commonplace was the last thing on people's minds. As a kid, this place and other famous forums like Zybez really helped me maximize my enjoyment of the game and get out of tricky situations. I remember one time, I was stuck on Karamja after crashing the glider in The Grand Tree, and I was so distraught because I couldn't find my way out, everything was high level, I was getting poisoned left and right, etc. My dad managed to find this website and thanks to it I made my way safe and sound back to Ardougne.

I miss the innocence and wonder of those times. Thank you for being a part of it.

RuneHQ was my go-to website as a kid getting into RuneScape as it was for countless others, thanks for being a part of my childhood, and thanks for bringing together the community of such a loved game.

Being honest, I haven't opened RuneHQ in about 15 years, but from when I started playing in 2005 it was by far my primary source of game knowledge, and who knows, without access to such a great resource during an incredibly important period of time for the game, and many of us, we might not even still be here playing/staying up to date today. The existence of RuneHQ all those years ago has without a doubt shaped my entire life.
