A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ is just as iconic as RuneScape itself is. RuneHQ helped so many players of all ages progress their accounts. Thank you for 23 years a dedication to an amazing game that is still with so many people to this very day. <3

I started using RuneHQ in roughly 2005 when I began playing RS. I have visited it countless times throughout the years especially to use its skilling calculators. Thank you to everyone who worked on this website for providing such a valuable asset to the community. It will be missed.

RuneHQ was one of maybe 3 or 4 resources that as a kid taught me something very valuable - if there was something I wanted to know, all I needed to do was search for it. A wealth of information that slowly helped me achieve things that I never thought were possible. Thank you for your hard work.

I was first introduced to RuneScape by my best friend sometime around 2005, when we were still in elementary school. I was hooked almost immediately, and nearly 20 years later, I can honestly say I've never truly "quit."

Some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around RuneScape. During recess, a small group of us would make a beeline for the school computers and spend the entire break playing. That is, until the school eventually caught on and banned the website. We managed to find a workaround for a little while by accessing the game through Miniclip, but eventually, that got shut down, too.

So, naturally, we did the next best thing: we started spending our time on RuneHQ. We'd read guides, look up quests, plan our next adventures, and figure out everything we wanted to do the next time we got the chance to log in. Before plugins, YouTube tutorials, and all the other resources we have today, RuneHQ was my go-to source for quest guides and just about anything RuneScape-related.

Looking back, it's amazing how much of my childhood was tied to this game and the community that surrounded it. RuneHQ was more than just a website. It was part of the experience. It helped fuel the excitement, curiosity, and friendships that made those early days of RuneScape so memorable.

It's bittersweet reminiscing about all of this, especially knowing the circumstances surrounding the site's closure and the loss of Deb and Gene. Thank you to everyone who put their time, effort, and passion into making RuneHQ what it was. You helped create something that became a small but lasting part of so many of our childhoods.

Twenty-six years is an incredible legacy. Thank you for the memories. You'll always be a part of my RuneScape story.

RuneHQ is the best site ever. It grew from an idea to help others, to a massive community decades later. Thank you everyone for the years of friendship. A huge special thank you to those who volunteered their time for the site as Staff, especially the Content team making the best quest guides out there. The passion you all shared during our events was amazing, and the laughs were contagious (the many hours spent on IRC, ventrilo and teamspeak!!) Thank you RuneHQ!!!

I remember coming home as a kid and logging into rs and right along with it Runehq. Shoot, 20 years later I still use the calcs here. I'm so sad to see this go.

Thank you for everything. <3

The same friend that introduced me to RuneScape pointed me to RuneHQ for quest and skill help. I wasn't old enough to work a job and afford membership for the first 3 years of play, but once I'd knocked out all the f2p quests and didn't have anything else I could do other than grind, I remember how I would often look at the skill guides for members' skills (or members' method for f2p skills) and just imagine what it would be like to do all that fun-looking stuff.

This site helped little 7 year old me find my way through Runescape back in the good old days. The game is still great, but I miss the era where everything was a mystery. People played to explore this giant world with fresh eyes, "xp waste" and all the minmax behavior that's become commonplace was the last thing on people's minds. As a kid, this place and other famous forums like Zybez really helped me maximize my enjoyment of the game and get out of tricky situations. I remember one time, I was stuck on Karamja after crashing the glider in The Grand Tree, and I was so distraught because I couldn't find my way out, everything was high level, I was getting poisoned left and right, etc. My dad managed to find this website and thanks to it I made my way safe and sound back to Ardougne.

I miss the innocence and wonder of those times. Thank you for being a part of it.
