A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

Thank you for everything. This resource was invaluable to me as a child, and taught me valuable lessons about the wealth of information on the internet, and how to get it. o7 to a real one. We won't forget you all.

I haven't played RS in years and don't think I'll ever return but this site was so helpful when I was playing regularly that it's always stayed present in my memories of those golden days of 'Scape.

Thank you for all who contributed to this site and helped guide me along my adventures in this game as a kid, I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun without you.

Thank you Runehq team for being there for me when I was a child.

I had a turbulent childhood, the best way I can describe it is lonely and troubled. My parents were neglectful and they didn't care what happened to me or what I did just as long as I caused no trouble or made their life harder.

When I think back, I remember times when I'd try to distract myself on the way home in the bus, trying my best to ignore the throbbing from the bullying I had endured that day. I'd think about what I'd need to do on RuneScape, and which quests I should get done.

I'd get home, quickly go through RuneHq and pick a quest guide to open; sometimes even multiple windows. I'd scroll immediately down to rewards and then I'd nod in acknowledgement. I'd do my chores quickly and run back to the computer and start up RuneScape in a small window. Arranging the windows to fit my small bulky computer screen.

In those small moments of effortless focus, methodically following the steps, carefully reading the guide, I'd be somewhere else.

I wouldn't be that sad kid who could couldn't fit in. I wouldn't be that kid who couldn't talk to his parents about his issues.
I wouldn't be that kid with a different skin colour than everyone else.
I wouldn't be that kid who had so much emotion that he didn't understand whirling inside him.

I was just that kid who lived in this new world and I could be someone else for a moment in time.

Thank you RuneHq team for allowing me to disappear for a while. Thank you for helping me hold on.

I remember visiting RuneHQ a lot when I was a kid learning Runescape and I always thought it was so cool how there was a site dedicated to helping out players. 23 years is such a long time to spend sharing knowledge and helping people and I will always be thankful I found RuneHQ at that young age.

Thank you so much for everything.
