A Tribute and Farewell

In Loving Memory

Celebrating 23 years of RuneHQ history
and the community that made it special.

More than a website: a home for adventurers, a library of shared knowledge, and friendships that reached far beyond the game.

A Tribute To

Deb & Gene

The hearts behind RuneHQ

Deb and Gene helped shape RuneHQ into a place where adventurers could learn, share, and belong. We honor their vision, dedication, kindness, and generosity, and the community built around those values.

Deb and Gene seated together, smiling at the camera.
Deb & Gene

“More than a website, RuneHQ was a home—and at its heart were two extraordinary people.”

Without Deb and Gene here to help us carry RuneHQ forward, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the RuneHQ website at the end of 2026.

RuneHQ was pivotal during my early years playing runescape in the early 2000’s.

I will cherish memories of this website, you will be missed RuneHQ :(

Wow, thank you for creating the platform that was responsible for helping me through the game I love so much. Without this platform, I would have never progressed through Ernest the Chicken, Dragon Slayer and countless other content with perfect guides.

Tooooooo many late late nights this site is responsible for, and the countless memories this site has helped build will never be forgotten. Thank you Deb, Gene, the entire RuneHQ team, and everyone who was able to make the experience and time so special.

I remember using RuneHQ to look up any guides F2P players. It was all members but I appreciated using the combat calculator to figure out what I need to get my combat level up on F2P and be like the level 126s

A site I should’ve used much more when I was younger. A RuneScape icon! RIP RHQ

I remember waking up before school some days back in 2004 and would scroll in amazement at what seemed an endless database that showed me different monsters. I miss that innocent feeling of amazement at something so simple, and will always cherish it. Not only pictures, but the site helped with my comprehension and reading skills as I learned them along with the game.

Thank you so much for being a critical part of my childhood memories and education.

I remember using RuneHQ for quest guides way back when I first started playing RuneScape in 2008. One of my core memories of this game is watching my sister complete Underground Pass for the first time, and seeing her alt-tab to a RuneHQ guide mid-way through her journey. Thank you for everything, and I will always remember the fond memories this community gave me.

Hi RuneHQ!
It's been a while.
Once upon a time a younger me, barely 12 years old, discovered this odd funny game everyone at school was suddenly playing. I ventured in and discovered a world full of intricacies, lore, skills, monsters. Oh so many monsters.
Wielded with my trusty steel 2h sword I looked for answers. What exactly is a cabbage and why is the whole of Misthalin covered with them? What's the deal with those goblins in red and green? What were those levers in Melzar's maze up to?
My questions found answers on RuneHQ, with its many guides, magnificent maps and lovely community. Years passed and my searches intensified. I became a warrior, I became a hero. Saved the damsel, saved the city, saved the universe. Without this site, I can't imagine myself coming this far.

This once mere child is now an adult, still fascinated by the many quirks of a British game, still enamoured by the work of its immense and lovely community. I owe a lot to this game, a lot to the community, a lot to RuneHQ, Tip.it, Zybez, LunaGang.

RuneHQ, Deb, Gene, seeing you go is painful, but in a sense, that's part of the next adventure. I wish you all the best, on to the next quest we must all embark!
