Congratulations to our long-time RuneHQ members Lilroo503 and Keata Kat who were married today. Both are previous staff and I would like to wish them the greatest of all happiness as they start their lives together.

We are lucky to have Kate on RuneHQ, especially on staff. She tries to make our community a better place for everyone, and we cannot thank her enough for it. Thank you, Kate, for being such an outstanding member of our staff and community.

Last Friday I visited Jagex to have a look around and see how a games studio works and of course to get some sneak peeks at upcoming content. I met with the Community Management, Lore, Graphics, and Content departments. When I arrived at Jagex I was greeted at reception by Mod Mike, who would be my tour guide for the day. I was taken through the building and shown where all the different teams were placed, and was quickly introduced to a couple of people such as Mod Emilee and Mod Paul M.
After the introductory tour, we walked over to Mod Mike's team - Community Management. I met Mod Zach, Mod Sushi Pi, Mod Drebin, Mod Luiz and Mod Edu. Mod Mike showed me a wide range of tools that they have to support their players and, of course, to troll them in-game. We went to the Grand Exchange to unleash an army of snowmen and joined RuneHQ's clan chat to say hi.
Once we had caused enough chaos in-game, it was time for lunch. Their break area was really cool - a large room with gaming consoles and a restaurant serving up hot food for the cold Winter day. I sat with the guys from Community Management and they asked for feedback as both a player and a fansite staff member, such as how I felt about Jagex support on fansites and how they were doing in general with the RuneScape community. I was able to offer up ideas that would benefit us, and received instant feedback on whether it would work, if it wouldn't, or what some alternatives could be. It was a really good session and I'd say we both walked away with a lot more knowledge on how each side operates to serve the community.
My favourite part of any game is the story, and RuneScape is no exception. The next part of my tour is the one I was excited for the most: Lore discussion with Mod Osborne and Mod Sarah. Mod Osborne is the senior narrative designer and is responsible for making sure that all of the stories in RuneScape fit together. He's also one of the brains behind the penguin quest series! We ended up talking about anything and everything for what's coming up in the game over the next year, and it's looking to be an awesome and exciting year. Mod Osborne's passion for the game was amazing and I could have sat for hours just listening to what he had to say. He would be talking about one story, which would make him think of another good point and start talking about another story, and then I'd have a question which ignited a whole other story discussion - it was a lot to take in! I can't wait to see the events he mentioned come in to the game and I'm really excited to see how it's received by the community.
With our time up in the lore department, we moved on to the Graphics team. I was introduced to Mod Engstrom and he walked me through each team from concept art through to animation. I was lucky enough to see a piece of concept art in progress and watching someone polishing their prop design for an area. I also met an illustrator who draws for marketing purposes and was finishing up the now-visible Refer a Friend revamp graphic.
After the concept art has been finished, it moves on to the character modelling team where I met Mod Alec. He explained that it's their job to try and bring the concept art to life and get as close to the concept as possible. He showed off some cool characters they're working on for an upcoming release. I also met with Mod Stead in the environment team who showed off a graphical revamp they're working on which looked amazing - I wish it was already in game! The amount of detail they can get to these days is incredible.
Our last stop in the graphics department involved animators and interface designers. I was shown a few stock animations they put together for different models, both in-game and upcoming, each showing off a technique that made them special. The interface designers were interesting too, as there's a lot of decision making involved to give the player the best experience. I had a sneak peek of their current direction and work-in-progress plans and it's looking good.
The tour is almost up and the final department to check out was Content. I met with Mod Moltare who was able to show off a bit of Player-Owned Ports and talk about some of the ship names suggested and some of his design decisions. I also managed to slip my own name choices into the Player-Owned Ports ship editor before release! I then met with Mod Hunter and Mod Slayer to see the fearsome Kalphite King in action!
After a long day of non-stop action and all the secrets I could handle, the tour was finished. Everyone I met were really friendly and eager to share what they were working on to get some outside feedback or just to show the latest cool thing they made. The entire experience was awesome and I could easily go back for more. I hope you've all gained something out of this article and can learn a bit more about the mystical Jagex HQ. Thanks to Mod Mike for being a great host and the rest of Jagex for welcoming me and sharing your secrets!

Clan Code of Conduct:
(Version: 4.0, Last Revised: August 24, 2012)
As a member of this clan, your behavior affects the image of RuneHQ in the community. Because of this, we ask that you follow these rules in your interactions with other players both inside and outside of the clan chat. It is YOUR responsibility to remain up-to-date on the rules of this clan.
1. All clan members are to abide by the Rules of RuneScape. No exceptions!
As we are all players of this game which is run by Jagex Ltd., we are hereby bound to their rules of conduct and we take this very seriously. Failure to abide by these rules is grounds for your immediate removal from this clan and can possibly result in action being taken against your account by Jagex Moderators.
2. Treat all other players with civility, respect, and fairness be they members of this clan or other players in the public.
Respect is one of the core principles of this clan. All players have equal rights and worth and it is expected that all users treat each other with such. The things you say and do on the internet can hurt someone in real-life. Remember there is a real person behind that screen name. Think before you act. You should not be deliberately provoking other players, and although we're generally nice and want to help you however we can, please don't take advantage of our hospitality by begging for free stuff. Also, please be respectful and supportive of other people's goals and achievements, even if they seem trivial to you. Even the mightiest Completionist Cape-touting master adventurer was a Level 3 once, you know!
3. Do not use offensive language.
This refers to swearing as much as it does racism or other grossly inappropriate remarks. We understand RuneScape has a Profanity Filter, but users should not need to rely on such to traverse our channel. Mild swearing such as'damn' or 'ass' is permitted since it is allowed on both the RuneHQ Forums and is not censored by the game. Out of respect for others, if any user asks you to tone down your language, please do so.
4. Flaming, Spamming, Trolling, or other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
This is hopefully self-explanatory. Flaming, spamming, and trolling are simply childish and unwelcome in our chat channel. Also, for the sake of maintaining a positive image of ourselves in the community, please do not go about doing these things (or similar) out in other clan chats, friends chats, public chat, etc.
5. No sexual, racist, religious, or illegal topics in the clan chat.
Discussion of sexual topics or sexuality is not permitted in this clan chat. Racist comments and jokes are childish and disrespectful of other nationalities and ethnic groups, religious topics can descend into heated arguments in a matter of seconds, and all discussions promoting illegal activities such as drugs are not allowed. Out of respect for other users and our staff who try to keep order in the clan chat, please take these discussions elsewhere. References to such topics in your display names are not welcome and you may be asked to either change your name or leave.
6. Be respectful of the Clan Staff and follow their instructions.
Clan Staff are designated by a Key or a Ship's Wheel next to their name in the clan chat list. If we're asking you to tone down your language, take your conversation to PM, and/or change the topic of discussion, please do so. There's no need for arguing or telling us how we should be doing our jobs. Impersonating staff by changing your name to something very much similar to the one of a RuneHQ staff member is strictly prohibited. Also, we understand your desire to help, but please leave recruiting to those who have the ability to recruit (General+). We have to run them through the paces again ourselves anyway, so grilling prospective recruits in advance is no help to us. If you have an objection to how a situation was handled, take screenshots of as much of the incident as you can (possibly even your whole chatlog) and send them to Alfawarlord or one of the other Deputies on the RuneHQ Forums.
7. Do NOT place Clan Staff members on your Ignore List, especially when they are giving you instructions.
We will remove users from the clan for doing this. Ignoring a staff member can result in you missing important information or instructions and generally comes across as disrespectful and demonstrative of an unwillingness to cooperate with the leadership of this clan. Our staff is hand-selected from mature individuals who then have to sign a permission slip which makes them legally responsible to RuneHQ for their actions. We're not going to intentionally do things to annoy you, so if something we do bothers you, come talk to us instead of adding us to your Ignore List. Be proactive.
8. This clan has a firm anti-gambling, anti-scamming stance. Advertising, participating in, or hosting scams and/or gambling games is STRICTLY prohibited.
This includes but is not limited to "Goodie Bag", "Doubling Money", or any other form of a player-run game of chance. This is a very serious offense in this clan as it is both against the Rules of Runescape and it portrays both our clan and the RuneHQ website by extension as dishonest. If you are caught hosting or participating in these dishonest activities, expect to be removed from the clan without warning.
9. This is a primarily English-speaking clan. If a user requests that you stop using a language other than English in the clan chat, please do so out of respect for others.
While our users come from a variety of backgrounds and speak many different languages, English is the main language spoken by the majority of our clan. If a user feels that the use of any other language in the clan chat is limiting his or her ability to participate in the conversation, we ask that you take it to another friends or clan chat.
10. RuneHQ Clan Staff reserve the right to interpret and apply these rules on a case-by-case basis.
We recognize that every incident is different and occurs in different circumstances. We reserve the right to interpret these rules and take the appropriate action according to the circumstances.
If you have read this far "H.O.P.E. Hold On, Pain Ends." is what you are looking for to tell your recruiter if you want to join the clan.
- Participation in the Citadel and clan chat are not mandatory, but are highly encouraged activities.
- Clan members are also encouraged to read the Clan Forum regularly to remain current with the latest rule revisions and other important updates.
- If you have a problem or suggestion, please take this up with a clan staff member either in-game or via the PM system on RuneHQ.

Hey everybody and welcome to the RuneHQ Community in 2014!
We're a bit late with a "welcome to 2014" topic, but we have good reason! I promise! To start with, let's do a quick recap of who we are and what we have to offer you all.
RuneHQ is one of only three Platinum supported RuneScape fansites. We do our best to help out the community with pretty much everything! We have quest guides, item and monster information, skill calculators, community forums, and so much more. More recently we have been attempting to branch out from just our own site. We now have our very own RuneHQ clan in game, Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube channel, and a brand new Twitch stream. We often run competitions on the forums and are regularly running in-game events for everyone to join in on. We currently have 32 lovely staff members that volunteer their time to keep the content, forums, and the code itself always updated and running smoothly. We do it you, the community, because we want to share our knowledge and enjoy helping others. Hopefully you've enjoyed your time and RuneHQ and are committed to another year with us because, boy, do we have some awesome things happening later this year!
To start off the year, we are releasing one brand new feature and one updated feature. Thanks to our developer Sumurai8, those features are getting released RIGHT NOW!
Rewind a few years and those of you from back then will remember that the only way to help correct any information on the site was to have a forum account and post on the forums. We eventually decided that we wanted the help of everyone and not just those on the forums, so we created a way for users on the site to submit data too. You needed to click a link and were brought to a different page where you had to fill in a bunch of information. That was the past.
Now if you want to submit information, you just need to scroll to the bottom of the guide, click the correct tab for submissions, and enter in the information that will help us correct the guide. Simple! Your information will be posted on the forums, hidden to everyone until an editor approves it. This gives us a chance to make sure no spam gets through. When we determine it to be correct information, we'll change it and everything is good to go! Hopefully you'll find that the update form is simplified from before and even easier for you to help us keep the site as updated as possible.
But of course we can't leave it at just that one change. We've gone ahead and created a way for everyone to leave a comment at the bottom of every guide and database entry page! Want to state how helpful step 5 of that quest guide was? We'd love to hear it and so would your fellow players! Feel like suggesting a different setup for how to kill the boss? Be my guest! I'm very interested in knowing exactly how you will all use this new comment system.
As with the spam prevention on the update form, we also need to initially hide comments from certain people until one of our moderators has a chance to review the content. If you want to bypass that restriction, you'll need to be logged into your forum account and be an Established or Advanced Member. Anyone abusing either of these systems will unfortunately need to be banned from them, so please use some judgement before pressing that submit button!
We hope you'll enjoy these updates. Please feel free to ask any questions about these changes on our forums. We look forward to hearing your feedback and are already getting excited about our next feature to be released...

WARNING: Pictures get bigger on the way down. I use a 2000x2000 canvas to paint.
So, about a month ago, I started doodling on Paint. Something I never really took seriously. For once, I wanted to do a legit painting. I didn't think it would be possible because I use a trackpad... Sooooo... I gave it a try. Within an hour of starting my first painting, I finally finished. Below is what I made for the first time. :-) (sorry if the images are a bit big oh AND this was all done on a trackpad)
It may not have been the best detailed, but it came out 10x better than I thought it would. So I kept making more paintings. (Of my RuneScape character of course)
I then started taking requests from people.
And now, I love just painting my rs character alot. Mostly for my Youtube channel, lol.
Just finished this one. Took me all night.
My favorite so far.
Bigger images below.
This art is a cover for a story I'm writing which you can check out at http://koviana.tumblr.com/ I post a new chapter every Saturday!
I was making this for my boyfriend (at the time), but my computer crashed and it didn't save, so all I have is this screenshot. :-(
The above was my first painting when I got my tablet, so it isn't in the best detail.
Not finished. :3
This painting was for the Sword Art Online painting contest on Mabinogi. (the game I play)
This was the last painting I did before my tablet broke in September 2014. It was requested from a friend of mine from Mabinogi. Mabi was having an SAO crossover.
This was to celebrate ONE YEAR of me starting digital paintings. I'm quite happy with the progress I have made in a year and I can't wait to learn more!
Currently taking a break from painting due to real life issues, so I'm not taking any requests right now, sorry. May possibly open an Art Shop in the future.
I do have some IRL paintings I've done, which I'll add later. ^o^
What do you guys think? :-) Oh, and if anyone has any requests, I'll gladly do them, teehee. Just nothing to hard pretty please. :-) I'm still learning. I plan to get a tablet soon, hopefully. So this should help me out.
