Part I: Coin of the Realm

Start Point: Varrock Square.

To Start: Talk to Gypsy Aris in her tent.

  1. Speak with Gypsy Aris who will offer to read out your fortune in exchange for a Coin. Give her a coin and ask her to tell you about your fortune. There is no set pattern of answers to the questions she asks, therefore choose any option that you desire and eventually she will give you a coin.

    Step 1

  2. Investigate the coin to open an interface and choose the "Flip" option to receive a Double-headed coin. Speak with Gypsy Aris once again and show her the coin. Choose any chat option, and she will subsequently ask you to toss the coin into the fountain at Varrock square. Leave the tent and use Double-headed coin on the fountain, which will cause a big giant Dimensional portal to appear in the centre of the fountain.

  3. Enter the portal, and you will be teleported to New Varrock. As you set your foot on the surface of darkest city, you'll be greeted by Image of Zemourgal.

    Note: Unequip and bank everything before you enter the portal - as you cannot take any items with you to New Varrock.

Part II: Shield of Arrav

Difficulty: Novice

Length: Short

Requirements: Shield of Arrav and Coin of the Realm

Quest Points Reward: 1

Reward: 100 Thieving XP lamp, 60 Zemomarks, Access to the Black Arm Gang stash, Lockpick, Mithril grapple and a Mithril crossbow, and 2 Treasure Hunter keys.

Start Point: New Varrock Museum.

To Start: Talk to Orlando Smith.

  1. Head over to New Varrock Museum and talk to Orlando Smith. He will tell you that Shield of Arrav has been stolen by Zemouregal, who has hidden each piece inside the banks of New Varrock. He will ask you to find both halves of the shield, and join either of the two gangs who also seek revenge from Zamouregal for his wrongdoing.

    Step 1

Black Arm Gang:

  1. If you have decided to join the Black Arm Gang, then proceed towards the southern gate of New Varrock and speak with Charlie the Tramp. He'll reveal some information about the gang, their hideout and Katrine.

    Step 2

  2. Head west down the end of the alley way to the Black Arm Gang hideout and speak with Katrine about the gang. Answer her questions as you see fit and ask her if she can help you with a bank job. She will tell you in order to join the gang you must bring her left Black arm back from Jonny the Beard.

    Step 3

  3. Get yourself a Bronze sword from the Sword shop (it's free), then pay a visit to Blue Moon Inn (Pub) right opposite to it. You'll find Jonny the Beard in there. Talk to him twice in order to begin the fight. He will hand over the Black arm once you have nearly killed him.

    Step 4

  4. Head back to the hideout and return the Black arm to Katrine who will now permit you to join the gang. She'll will give you a Lockpick and tell you the secret pass-phrase which will let you go through the northern door.

    Step 5

  5. Go through the northern door and speak to Moira about getting a forged document. She will give you two Forged documents, one for each part of the shield.

Phoenix Gang:

  1. If you have decided to join the Phoenix Gang, then proceed towards the fountain in the centre of New Varrock and speak to Baraek. Bribe him for 2 Zemomarks and he'll tell you the hideout location of VTAM Corporation.

    Step 7

  2. Pay a visit to the hideout building near the southern wall of New Varrock and speak to Straven telling him that you need to pull off a bank job. Straven won't help until you've proved your loyalty to the gang by bringing him a Phoenix eggling from Lowe the owner of Archery shop, who can be found just east of the general store.

    Step 8

  3. Make your way to the Archery shop and talk to Lowe about the Phoenix eggling. He'll tell you that the Phoenix eggling is upstairs, so climb up the ladder.

    Step 9

  4. Once you're up, make your way very carefully through the room and pick up the Moving egg in the south-east corner without touching any of the other eggs. In case if you do touch any other eggs by accident, the phoenix present in the room will instantly kill you with a powerful ranged attack.

    Step 10

  5. Go back to Straven with the egg and then choose what to do to the egg in order to make it hatch. You can make it hatch by choosing either options, Clap or Kick. Once the eggling hatches, Straven will allow you to join the gang and will give you the pass-phrase to the hideout.

    Note: Your choice will determine the cosmetic appearance and nature of the eggling. By choosing "Clap" option the egg will hatch into a cute phoenix eggling, whereas by selecting "Kick" option will make the egg hatch into a mean phoenix eggling.

  6. Speak with Molly next door to obtain two Forged documents.

Finishing Up:

  1. Head to the East Varrock Bank. Go upstairs and talk to Skeleton clerk to obtain Broken shield. Head downstairs and go to the West Varrock Bank. Talk to Skeleton clerk to obtain the other half of the shield.

  2. Once you have acquired both the halves of the shield, use the pieces on each other to create the Shield of Arrav, and then return to Orlando to complete the sub-quest.

Part III: Demon Slayer

Requirements: Shadow of the Storm and Coin of the Realm Demon Slayer

Items Needed: Cabbage (obtained during quest), Rotten tomato (obtained during quest), Beer (obtained during quest), Black clothing set [Hood, Robe (top), Robe (bottom) - bought from Thessalia's Clothes shop], Black mushroom (obtained during quest), and Vial (obtained during quest).

Start Point: New Varrock Square.

To Start: Talk to Gypsy Aris in her tent.

  1. Speak with Gypsy Aris, who will tell you that Delrith has returned to destroy the city again, and that you're the one destined to defeat him. She will also tell you to find the Silverlight in order to kill Delrith, but first pay a visit to Sir Prysin who lives in a house north-west of the church - as he's the only person who can help you get to it.

    Step 1

  2. Head to the church in north-east New Varrock and attempt to climb down the trap door (located along the western wall). It will be locked so you'll need a key.

    Step 2

  3. Talk to Sir Prysin in a house north-west of the church. Ask him about the key that you need, and he will begrudgingly help you, suggesting you search his home for the key to the trap door. The key will always be in the last object you search, so examine the following objects on the ground floor: the 2 cabinets, the sink, and the drain on the outside of building - on the south wall. Go upstairs and search the drawers, wardrobe, dresser, bed, and desk. When you have found the key, make your way back to the trapdoor to your east and climb down.

    Note: The location of the key is same during replay as well.

    Step 3

  4. Once inside the crypt, head north and attempt to take out Silverlight from the altar which is covered by a barrier in the centre of the room. You won't be able to, so climb up the ladder and make your way back to Gypsy Aris to find out more information.

    Step 4

  5. Talk to Gypsy Aris. She will give you Spirit measure - a device which will help you find the spirit guardians of Silverlight. The spirit guardians can be found at the following locations:
    Name Location
    Spirit of the Body Blue Moon Inn (Pub).
    Spirit of the Faith Graveyard in north-west of New Varrock.
    Spirit of the Mind Building south of Sir Prysin's house.

    Step 5

  6. Head to the Blue Moon Inn (Pub) and attempt to speak with Dr Harlow - who has been possessed by the spirit, who will not allow you to speak with him. In order to make the spirit depart Dr Harlow's body you'll need a potion to sober him up. Before you move onto next step, head a little north and pick up a Rotten tomato from a crate near the pillories.

    Step 6

  7. Make your way back to the path of Sir Prysin's house and enter the building just south of it. Inside the building, search the Bookcase in south-east corner of the room and an Animated book (Level 32) will appear that you have to kill.

    Step 7

  8. Once you've killed the Animated book, the Spirit of the Mind will appear. Speak to him and answer all plenty of questions he asks by choosing any options that you desire - as all options will work. After that, he will unlock his seal on the Silverlight barrier.

    Step 8

  9. Now go to the graveyard, which is located north of New Varrock West Bank. Inspect the Tombstone stack right beside the statue of Zemouregal. Speak to the Spirit of Faith that appears. He'll ask you to take a step to the right, so simply walk east one step then speak to him again to have the final seal released.

    Step 9

  10. Head straight south towards the extreme end of the city from graveyard, and enter the building denoted by a Vial symbol on the minimap. Speak to Apothecary and ask if he can make a potion to sober someone up. He tells you that he can, but he would need a Cabbage, a Rotten tomato and a Dog hair.

    Step 10

  11. Go a little to your north-west, just between the two houses you'll see a kennel. Put your hand inside the kennel, continue, reach left and grab the object, reach right and rub in the jelly, reach further in and leave your hand where it is. Upon doing so you'll obtain the Dog hair.

  12. Now make your way towards the south-east, and pick up a Cabbage from the patch south of Blue Moon Inn (Pub).

  13. Return to the Apothecary with all the ingredients and he will make you Sobriety potion which you can then use on a glass of Beer (bought from the Bartender in the Blue Moon Inn for 2 Zemomarks) to produce Sobriety potion in a beer glass. Finally, use the solution on Dr Harlow, and the spirit will depart his body. Talk to the Spirit of Body, who will demand to see something die. You may either kill a random Zombie citizen in the bar, or alternatively, you may also convince the spirit to kill you instead (you won't lose anything). Speak with the spirit again, and he will lift up the barrier.

    Note: Do not drop the Vial, as you will need it later onwards.

  14. Head back up to the church, north-east side of New Varrock. Climb down the trapdoor once again, and take out the Silverlight from the altar situated in centre of the crypt.

  15. Make your way back up by climbing the ladder to your south. Head towards the demon camp found in the south-east corner of New Varrock. Pick up a Black mushroom from the black ink mushrooms growing on the wall adjacent to Evil Dave; use it on your Silverlight to produce Silverlight (dyed). Equip your Black hood, Black robe (top), Black robe (bottom), and Silverlight (dyed). Speak to Evil Dave and then pass through the barrier.

    Note: Evil Dave won't let you through until you're wearing full black clothing. If you do not already have it, you may purchase the set for 90 Zemomarks from Thessalia's Clothes shop located in the centre of the city. You can obtain Zemomarks by either killing Zombie citizens or pickpocketing them.

  16. Talk to Delrith in the centre of this area, who wants you to kill him but you're being prevented from doing so. Soon the dialogue is over, at this point you have to pass through the barrier once again, and head towards north-west to the Archery shop. Use the Vial on blood fountain just north of the shop; producing a Vial of blood.

  17. Return to Delrith and go through the chat options to draw a circle of blood around him. Now you'll have to fight Agrith Naar (Level 63). It is advisable to move away as far as you can when he is about to use his special attack that may cause a significant amount of damage to your character if you do not keep a fair distance from him. He will always scream "Prepare to be incinerated" when he is about to use his special attack, so you will know when to move away. Once you have dropped half of his lifepoints, he will summon three lesser demons. While they are alive he will heal himself, so take them down as quickly as possible.

  18. Once the demon has been defeated, return to Gypsy Aris to complete the sub-quest.

Part IV: Defender of Varrock

Difficulty: Experienced

Items Needed: Full Zombie Set (Mask, Shirt, Trousers, Gloves and Boots), 3 Tin ore (Purchased from Sani's Mining shop in the western part of the city for 60 Zemomarks), Vial (obtained during quest), 4 Fire runes, and 1 Nature rune (Purchased from Aubury's Rune shop in the south-eastern part of the city for 372 Zemomarks).

Reward: 600 Zemomarks, 15,000 Combat XP lamp, 10,000 Thieving XP lamp, 10,000 Magic XP lamp, 10,000 Defence XP lamp, 2,000 Construction XP lamp, and 2 Treasure Hunter keys.

Start Point: New Varrock Palace.

To Start: Talk to Reldo in the library.

  1. Speak with Reldo who will reveal his secret of being the only human left in New Varrock, as Zemouregal kept him alive to research on Shield of Arrav. He will suggest Arrav as the relevant person to speak with, who can be found in the garden just to the east of Reldo.

    Step 1

  2. Talk to Arrav, who pretends to be busy and say he won't be able to talk, but talk to him anyway and ask if he would be willing to bring down Zemouregal. He will say he is bound to be under Zemouregal's control forever, but will nonetheless be interested in your offer.

    Step 2

  3. Return to Reldo and confirm that Arrav is indeed under control of Zemouregal, however he would be interested in overthrowing him. Reldo will ask you look around the library to find what Zemouregal is using to control Arrav while still engaged in other activities at the same time.

    Step 3

  4. Search the bookcase in north-west corner of the room to obtain Heart magic notes. Read the book and you will learn that Zemouregal uses an obsidian prism artefact to strengthen his hold over Arrav. Talk to Reldo once again, who will tell you to look around for the artefact in treasure room, which can be found upstairs on the first floor.

    Step 4

  5. Go to the room to your east (where you spoke with Arrav earlier), and open the Throne room door; select "Eavesdrop on the conversation" option to begin a cutscene.

    Step 5

  6. Once the cutscene is over, head to the kitchen situated in east wing of the palace and pick a Vial off of the table. Equip your Zombie outfit and climb up the south-east staircase.

    Note: You won't be permitted to go upstairs if you're not wearing full Zombie outfit. If you do not already have it, you may purchase the set for 500 Zemomarks from Thessalia's Clothes shop located in the centre of the city. You can obtain Zemomarks by either killing Zombie citizens or pickpocketing them.

  7. Kill an Armoured zombie (Level 42) and use the Vial on the red mist that appears on the spot where it dies; producing a Vial of red mist.

  8. Make your way to the north-west corner on this floor and pass through the red barrier to enter Zemouregal's treasure room. Read the Scrying Pool Notes in the north-east corner of this room and then attempt to unlock the treasure room safe door in the north-west corner. Upon doing so, it will prompt you to have the Decoder strips in order to unlock the door.

    Step 8

  9. Head back out of the room and follow the pathway to your south-east, towards the stairs from where you came up. Just north of the stairs there is a combat training room filled with Armoured zombies. Search the crate in this room to obtain Decoder strips.

    Step 9

  10. Leave the combat training room and enter through the red barrier directly opposite of it. Make your way along the balcony and through the barrier on the other side. Go inside the south-west room to inspect the tin soldier placed on the operating table. You'll learn that it's missing a head and requires 3 pieces of Tin ore to fix the damage.

    Step 10

  11. Exit the room and return to the ground floor of the palace. Head to the New Varrock East Bank and talk to the Trial announcer standing right outside the bank entrance. Ask him for a Tin soldier head and then answer his questions any way you desire.

    Note: If you do not already have 3 Tin ore, 1 Nature rune, and 4 Fire runes - now is the best time to get those.

    • Tin ore may be purchased from Sani's Mining shop in the western part of the city for 60 Zemomarks.
    • Nature and Fire runes may be purchased from Aubury's Rune shop in the south-eastern part of the city for 372 and 68 Zemomarks, respectively. You may obtain the Fire runes for free on your first purchase.

  12. After you've obtained the head, return to the tin soldier upstairs inside the palace and use the materials to repair him, then use a red mist on him.

  13. Leave the room and head to the south of combat training room on this floor. Kill another Armoured zombie (Level 42) and once again collect the red mist that appears on the spot where it dies by using a Vial on it.

  14. Return to the treasure room in the north-west. Investigate the Scrying pool in the north-east corner of this room and then choose Option 7 entitled as 'Control the tin soldier'.

  15. Once in control, direct the tin soldier to pass through the red barrier and make its way to the room to the north. Search Zemouregal's lab desk to obtain the safe code - which you're advised to write down somewhere.

    Note: Safe code differs from player to player. However, it will remain the same for subsequent quest replay attempts. In case you forget the code, simply read the Scrying Pool Notes in the treasure room to obtain it once again.

    Step 15

  16. Now that you have the safe code and the Decoder strips, you may unlock the treasure room safe in the north-west corner of the room. An interface will appear which requires you to configure the decoder strips by dragging them onto letters in the right-panel, following the order of your safe code. Once you've correctly placed the corresponding strips onto the letters, a set of digits will be revealed by the strips. Enter those digits into the vault by operating the arrow keys.

    Example: Let's assume your safe code is CBGF.

    • Decoder strip [1] will be placed on Letter C - Digit revealed: 6.
    • Decoder strip [2] will be placed on Letter B - Digit revealed: 3.
    • Decoder strip [3] will be placed on Letter G - Digit revealed: 6.
    • Decoder strip [4] will be placed on Letter F - Digit revealed: 2.

  17. Once the safe is unlocked, make your way inside and smash the black prism.

Items Needed: Must have the standard Prayers and Spellbook activated, Full Zombie Set, 2 Vials of water, 2 Vials of red mist, Decoder strips, 5-11 Raw undead beefs (obtained during quest), Onion (Purchased from Xuan's Vegetable stall in New Varrock square for 12 Zemomarks), Uncut diamond (Purchased from Urist Loric's Gem stall in New Varrock square for 200 Zemomarks), Ring mould (Toolbelt works), Gold ore (Purchased from Sani's Mining shop in the western part of the city for 150 Zemomarks), 1 Cosmic rune (Purchased from Aubury's Rune shop in the south-eastern part of the city for 232 Zemomarks), 10 Earth runes, Mith crossbow, Mith grapple, Lockpick, and Darklight.

Start Point: New Varrock Palace.

To Start: Talk to Arrav in the garden.

  1. Speak to Arrav to start the sub-quest. Your objective is to steal heart of Arrav and preserve it in a Prepared canopic jar. In order to make a Prepared canopic jar, you will need to obtain the following items: Sacred oil, Dwellberries, a Ring of life, and an Empty canopic jar.

    Step 1

  2. Exit the palace and make your way towards the Pottery shop, located south-east of New Varrock East Bank. Climb up the ladder inside the building and speak to Ernie about the Canopic jar. He will give you a Cooking urn that you're supposed to fill with scraps from Raw undead beef.

    Note: The type of Cooking urn you'll receive depends on your Cooking level. If you received a Cracked cooking urn (r) then you're only required to cook 5 Raw undead beef in order to fill it, whereas a Strong cooking urn (r) requires 8 raw undead beef and a Decorated cooking urn (r), will require 11 Raw undead beefs to be cooked to fill it.

    Step 2

  3. Climb down the ladder, and head north-east towards the cow pen. Kill the Zombie cows until you have sufficient amount of Raw undead beefs required to fill your Cooking urn.

    Step 3

  4. Head a little west of the cow pen and enter the building with a cooking range. Cook the Raw undead beef on the range until your urn fills up completely.

    Note: If your urn doesn't fill up there are two possible reasons. First you have a partially filled cooking urn in the real world. You will have to either destroy or complete it before you can fill up the one in New Varrock. Second there is a glitch that requires an open inventory spot in your inventory to fill the cooking urn.

  5. Return to Ernie with the filled urn and he will give you an Empty canopic jar.

    Step 5

  6. Climb down the ladder, and head to the church in the north-east corner of the city. Pray at the altar inside the church; activate standard Prayers if you haven't already, and then talk to Father Lawrence. He will ask you to help him strengthen his faith in Saradomin. Activate a prayer that matches the phrase said by Father Lawrence, and then talk to him again while the prayer is active to continue. Once you have successfully restored his faith and received the Sacred oil; use it on the Empty canopic jar to produce Canopic jar with oil.

    • Cosmic and Earth runes may be purchased from Aubury's Rune shop in the south-eastern part of the city for 232 and 170 Zemomarks, respectively. You may obtain the Earth runes for free on your first purchase.
    • Uncut diamond and Ring mould may be purchased from Urist Loric's Gem stall in New Varrock square for 200 and 5 Zemomarks, respectively. You can also make use of Ring mould in your toolbelt.
    • Gold ore may be purchased from Sani's Mining shop in the western part of the city for 150 Zemomarks.

    Step 6

  7. Head over to the New Varrock West bank and enter the building south of it with a furnace. Cut the diamond, and smelt the Gold ore into a Gold bar. Use the Gold bar on the furnace to make a Diamond ring, and cast Lvl-4 Enchant spell on it to produce Ring of life; use it on Canopic jar with oil to produce Canopic jar with oil and ring.

    Note: You must have standard Spellbook activated in order to cast Lvl-4 Enchant spell.

    Step 7

  8. Make your way back to the New Varrock Palace. Equip your Zombie outfit and enter through the red barrier in the south-east wing of the palace. Search the corpse of Ambassador Ferrnook inside the room in order to obtain Dwellberries. Right-click the Dwellberries and use them on the Canopic jar with oil and ring to produce Prepared canopic jar.

    Note: You will not be able to pass through the red barrier without a Vial of red mist in your backpack. In order to make a Vial of red mist: climb up the staircase in south-east corner of the palace. Kill an Armoured zombie (Level 42) on the first floor and use a Vial on the red mist that appears on the spot where it dies. It is advised to make 2 Vials of red mist, the additional one for later use.

  9. Return to Arrav and show him the Prepared canopic jar. He'll explain what you need to do to get his heart, which is kept in a vault secured with a code and beam traps on the way.

  10. Make your way to the south-east room and speak with Queen Ellamaria to obtain some Delphinium seeds.

  11. Return to the courtyard (where you spoke with Arrav earlier). Rake the delphinium patch in the north-east corner, and then use Delphinium seeds on the patch in order to plant them. Take the nearby Watering can, and water the flowers. Pick up a Delphinium flower from the patch once grown.

    Note: If you do not already have 2 Vials of water and an Onion - now is the best time to get those.

    • Head to the kitchen situated in east wing of the palace and pick 2 Vials off of the table. Use them on the nearby sink to produce 2 Vials of water.
    • Onion may be purchased from Xuan's Vegetable stall in New Varrock square for 12 Zemomarks.

  12. Head to Thessalia's Clothes shop, located in the centre of the city. Talk to Thessalia about dyes to obtain the Yellow and Blue dyes. Use both the dyes on each of the Vials of red mist you have to produce Vial of purple mist and Vial of orange mist.

  13. Make your way back to the New Varrock Palace. Head to the library situated in west wing of the palace. Pass through the orange barrier on the north wall to enter Zemouregal's study room. Search his desk to obtain a Code key which you have to read.

    Note: The code differs from player to player. However, it will remain the same for subsequent quest replay attempts. In case you forget the code, simply search Zemouregal's desk to obtain the Code key once again.

  14. Leave the room and head upstairs by using the staircase in south-east corner of the palace.

  15. Make your way to the north-east corner on this floor and pass through the purple barrier to enter Zemouregal's bedroom. Search the footlocker by his bed to find a Vault key.

  16. Leave the room and head back south along the corridor and unlock the vault outer door. Make your way inside the room up until you see the first set of light beams. Equip your Mith crossbow and Mith grapple, then use them to grapple the chandelier.

    Note: While you're here, it is advised to deface the three paintings on the northern wall to complete Bank-Z task (Part of New Varrock Hard Tasks set) to avoid replaying all previous sub-quests to do so.

  17. Once you've successfully made through the light beam barriers, unlock the vault door in the south-west corner. An interface will appear which requires you to configure the decoder strips by dragging them onto letters in the right-panel, following the order of your code as imprinted on the Code key. If a letter has been repeated multiple times in your code, then place the strips one by one on that particular letter. Once you've correctly placed the corresponding strips onto the letters, a set of digits will be revealed by the strips. Enter those digits into the vault by operating the arrow keys.

    Example: Let's assume your code is GAIG.

    • Decoder strip [1] will be placed on Letter G - Digit revealed: 2.
    • Decoder strip [2] will be placed on Letter A - Digit revealed: 9.
    • Decoder strip [3] will be placed on Letter I - Digit revealed: 9.
    • Decoder strip [1] will be placed back on left-panel.
    • Decoder strip [4] will be placed on Letter G - Digit revealed: 2.

  18. Once the vault door is unlocked, make your way inside and take Arrav's heart from the pedestal; it'll be automatically placed inside the Prepared canopic jar to produce Heart in a canopic jar.

  19. Leave the room and return to Arrav on the ground floor to show him the heart. The curse that binds him to Zemouregal's will be broken, and he will ask you to steal the Shield of Arrav from New Varrock Museum so that he can fight Zemouregal.

  20. Head over to the New Varrock Museum and distract Orlando by pressing the big red button next to Loarnab's remains to the south. Select any of the options on the interface that pops up, causing the statue to vibrate and distract Orlando.

  21. Right-click and pickpocket Curator Haig Halen roaming nearby to obtain a Display cabinet key. Use the key on the display which has the shield inside in order to steal it.

    Note: You will fail to obtain the key and steal the shield if Orlando is not properly distracted. In the that case, you will need to press the big red button again.

  22. Return to Arrav and give him the shield and Darklight. When you're ready, enter the throne room behind Arrav for the final battle.

    Notes:

    • There will be two safe fights - you will not lose anything in case you die.
    • You can't take any food with you nor use your backpack inside the throne room, as you will be playing as Arrav from now on.
    • As you will be wielding Darklight and the Shield of Arrav, therefore you can only make use of one-handed melee and defensive abilities.

  23. Once you're inside the throne room, speak with Sharathteerk (Level 98) to begin the first fight. Although the fight is quite easy and simple, but it's recommended to use abilities such as Anticipation, Slice, Fury, Slaughter, Punish, Sever, Revenge, Dismember, and Assault. Make sure to heal yourself using the abilities such as Rejuvenate, Resonance, Ice Asylum, or Sacrifice once in a while. When he has been defeated, either kill or spare him, then take the Healing orb to restore your lifepoints.

  24. Now it's time to confront Zemouregal (Level 98)! Make your way to the north-east corner and climb up the staircase. Run up to the central section of the roof to begin the fight. Throughout the fight Zemouregal will summon Protection portals that will make you unable to deal him any damage. Therefore, your first priority will always be to destroy the protection portals and then attacking Zemouregal. He will also occasionally summon Zombies and New Varrock guards to assist him during the fight - it is advised to ignore them as they won't do a lot damage to you. However, you do need to be careful when he begins to add exploding Zombie cows; as they are capable of dealing high damage. It is highly recommended to avoid attacking or getting closer to the cows, but rather try luring them to destroy things for you; as they can also cause damage to protection portals, zombies, guards, and even Zemouregal!

    You will also find Health orbs on the ground when a zombie is killed or a protection portal is destroyed. You must pick them up to restore 10% of your lifepoints. When Zemouregal has one-third of his lifepoints left, he will begin to summon a large quantity of protection portals and exploding zombie cows. You must lure the cows into the portals to destroy all of them so that Zemouregal can be killed.

  25. Once Zemouregal has been defeated, Arrav will exit the palace and meet you at the New Varrock square. He will share the glad tidings of Zemouregal's death and freedom of Varrock. He will also explain that he and the other zombies of New Varrock are now finally at peace and will be able to die. He will then collapse and die in front of you. You will be returned to Gielinor and the portal will be closed behind you.

Part VI: Finishing Up

After completion, you have an option to replay the quest by speaking with Gypsy Aris. During replay you can complete Tiny Zemouregal's Achievements, which are part of Completionist cape requirements.

You can also purchase a Mystery gift from Thessalia for 200,000 Zemomarks in New Varrock. The Mystery gift contains a Chromatic partyhat - which is the only item that can be removed from this dimension and taken back to Gielinor.
