Start

Master Thieves' Armband:

Completing this section of the quest can be done solo or with the assistance of another player from the gang you did not join during Shield of Arrav. If you are unsure which gang you are in, you can check the in-game quest log for Shield of Arrav to find out. If you wish to use a partner for this quest, you can post in this forum to request some help. Be sure to view the quest guide here for how to complete it with them. The guide below will be for if you are completing the quest solo, which is recommended for ease and speed.

You do not need to complete both of the gang sections below, you will only need to complete one. Which one you will need to complete depends upon which gang you are a member of. You can choose to switch gangs by speaking to the leader of the gang you wish to join.

Black Arm Gang Member:

  1. Speak to Katrine in the Black Arm Gang's hideout in Southwest Varrock. Ask her about becoming a master thief and she will tell you to steal ScarFace Pete's Candlesticks, but you will need to get some ID papers first. She will also give you the password: "Four leaf clover".

Note: To reach the hideout, use the Varrock lodestone home teleport then head North West past Charlie the Tramp into the alley.

    Katrine

  2. Make sure you have a Black full helmet, Black platebody, Black platelegs, and several lockpicks before making your way to Brimhaven. Once here, head to the gang office North East of the pub, just South of the gate to Musa Point. Try to enter and Grubor will ask for the password: "Four leaf clover". Tell him it and you'll be allowed to enter. Now speak with Trobert and he will give you the ID paper you need to get into ScarFace Pete's mansion.

  3. With your Black armor equipped, try to enter ScarFace Pete's Mansion (the large building West of the Shrimp and Parrot pub) and you will be stopped by Garv. You must show him the ID paper and he will let you in.

    ScarFace Pete's Mansion

  4. Once inside, walk to the North Western room. Here you will see 2 chests and some coins on the floor. Pick the lock on the door to enter then search the chests to find two Candlesticks.

Note: You cannot take a candlestick from someone else because Katrine will know you didn't do the quest properly and will not give you the band.

    Treasure!

  5. Return to Varrock and speak with Katrine again. She will give you the Master Thieves' armband.

    Black Arm Band

Phoenix Gang Member:

  1. Speak to Straven in the Phoenix Gang hideout and ask him about becoming a master thief. He will tell you to steal ScarFace Pete's Candlesticks and that the Phoenix gang has associates in Brimhaven. Their names are Charlie the cook and Alfonse the Waiter in the pub called the Shrimp and Parrot. He will also give you the password: "Gherkin".

Note: To reach the hideout, use the Varrock lodestone home teleport then head North East into the city. South of the building East of the pub, you will see a dungeon icon. Open the door containing the ladder, climb down and you will find yourself within the hideout.

    Straven

  2. Ensure that you have 1,000 coins and several lockpicks before heading to Brimhaven. Once there, go to the Shrimp and Parrot pub. It is West of the Brimhaven agility course and marked by a Food shop icon. Inside, speak with Alfonse the Waiter. Ask him about gherkins and you will be permitted to enter the kitchen. Enter through the door on the West side of the North wall and talk to Charlie the cook. He will tell you that while they haven’t made great progress stealing the candlesticks, they have made progress on how to enter undetected.

    Passwords

  3. Leave the pub and walk West to the mansion. Outside, speak with Garv and ask if he is open to being bribed to let you enter. Luckily for you he is apparently not paid very well so he is more than willing to turn a blind eye for 1,000 coins. Alternatively, if you are wearing a Ring of Charos (a) he will simply trust you to go in.

    The Bribe

  4. Once inside, walk to the North Western room. Here you will see 2 chests and some coins on the floor. Pick the lock on the door to enter then search the chests to find two Candlesticks.

Note: You cannot take a candlestick from someone else because Straven will know you didn't do the quest properly and will not give you the band.

    Treasure!

  5. Return to Straven in Varrock to give him the Candlesticks and he will give you the Master Thieves' armband in exchange.

Firebird's Feather:

To obtain a Entranan Firebird feather, you will need Ice gloves. If you already have these, proceed to step 6. Otherwise, these are held by the Ice Queen within the Ice dungeon beneath White Wolf Mountain. Make sure to equip your best combat gear, style does not matter as she has no weakness, and grab some food, then head West of Taverley to the mountain.

  1. Climb the Mountain coming from either Taverley or Burthorpe and enter the cave near Grimgnash at the Northern end.

    First Step

  2. On the other side you will find yourself next to 3 trapdoors with a rockslide and 3 ladders to the East. Right click on the rockslide and mine it. Once it is cleared you will walk to the other side and the area will become blocked again. Ignore the 2 Ice warriors and climb down the South ladder.

    Down We Go

  3. You will now find yourself in the ice dungeon. Walk South West until you come to a ladder, climb up it and you will see two other ladders. Ignore the 2 Ice giants and climb down the Eastern ladder back into the dungeon.

    Short Path

  4. Follow the tunnel around until you reach another ladder at a dead end. Climb up this ladder then back down the next ladder to find yourself in a large cavern. Walk a bit North and you'll see a number of Ice warriors and the Ice Queen.

    Long Path

  5. Attack and kill the Ice Queen and she will drop the Ice gloves. Teleport out or make your way back through the dungeon and head to Port Sarim.

    Ice Queen

  6. Once at Port Sarim, go to the Northern dock. Use the bank deposit box to store all of your items except for the Ice gloves then talk to one of the Monks to travel to Entrana.

    Sailing

  7. When you've arrived, leave the dock and make your way to the North side of the island. You should see the Entrana Fire Bird flying around West of the Law altar. Make sure you are wearing the Ice gloves and kill the bird; it only has 50 Life points, so using your fists isn't a problem. Once dead, it will drop a Fire feather for you to pick up.

    Firebird

Cooked Lava Eel:

  1. Return to Port Sarim and talk to Gerrant in the Fishing shop just North of the lodestone. Ask him about catching Lava eels, he will tell you that you need a lava-proof fishing rod. He will then tell you how to make one and give you a bottle of Blamish snail slime. Make an unfinished Harralander potion by using Clean harralander with a Vial of water. Use the unfinished potion with the bottle of snail slime to get Blamish oil, then use this oil on a regular Fishing rod to create an Oily fishing rod.

    Gerrant

  2. Travel to Taverley. Make sure you have your Oily fishing rod and some Fishing bait, enter the Dungeon, South of the bank.

If you don't have 70 Agility, follow the blue path on the map below through the dungeon until to find a small jail area. Kill the Jailer and he will drop a key. Use the key with the jail cell containing Velrak the explorer and ask him about places to explore. He will give you a Dusty key. Now follow the red path to reach a locked Gate. Use your Dusty key on the gate to open it and you will find yourself in a cavern filled with Blue dragons. Follow green path South to the lava pool.

If you have level 70 Agility, you can use the Obstacle pipe to the right of the entrance stairs and you will be in a cavern with Blue dragons. Run South until you come to a lava pool.

    Blue Dragons

  3. You will now find yourself at a river of lava where you can catch the Raw lava eels. The fishing spots can be difficult to spot, but they are bubbles in the lava. Use your Oily fishing rod to catch a few Lava eels and exit the dungeon to cook them.

Finishing the Quest:

Go back to the Heroes' Guild and talk Achietties once more to give her the three items you've collected.
