Start Point:
Tower south of Ardougne, next to the Necromancer's Tower.
To Start:
Speak to Effigy.
Instructions:
  1. Talk to Effigy outside the tower. He will ask you to help convince his workers that the tower is not weird and that they should finish building it.

  2. Speak to Bonafido about getting everyone to work. Ask him to go inside the building, and he will claim that you aren't dressed properly.

  3. You need to speak to all of the workers to get the clothes. After speaking with "No fingers", pickpocket him for the boots. You may have to pickpocket him several times to obtain the boots. Speak with "The Guns" and he will ask for a beer in exchange for his shirt. Now, talk with Gummy and he will say he lost his trousers in the water. Search the plants on the eastern side of the tower, near the ocean, and you will find the trousers.

  4. Speak with "Black-eye" and he will ask you to answer the following questions for his hard hat.

    Q: How many nails make a rocking chair?
    A: 3

    Q: What does 3 cloth, 3 planks, and 3 nails make?
    A: Torn curtains

    Q: I like fish and I would like to put some in my garden. How do I make a water feature?
    A:10 clay

  5. Once you have the outfit, speak to Bonafido again. He will ask you some questions to test your mental attitude as a builder.

    Q: What do you drink?
    A: Tea

    Q: How do you whistle?
    A: "Whistle for attention"

    Q: What's a good sign that you need to replace your trousers?
    A: Your legs are getting a bit cold.

    Q: What do you do if you cut your finger?
    A: Carry on, it'll fix itself.

  6. Go inside the tower, and search the crates for supplies. You will need 4 colored balls, 3 metal sheets, 4 valve wheels, 6 rivets, 4 pipes, 5 pipe rings, 5 metal bars, and 4 binding fluids.

  7. The first machine is the pressure machine upstairs. Repair it using 4 colored balls, 3 metal sheets, and 4 valve wheels. Once you have fixed it, calibrate it by filling the leaks with the colored balls. Do this by turning the valves left and right until the ball falls into the leak hole, then turn the valve so the water reaches the top.

    Pipe 2: Pull down the left lever, and then turn the 2nd valve left twice. Turn it right until the pipe is filled with water.
    Pipe 4: Pull down the right lever and turn the 4th valve right three times, then left once. Turn it right until the pipe is filled with water.
    Pipe 3: Lift the right lever back up, and turn the 3rd valve right twice and then left once. Turn it right until the pipe is filled with water.
    Pipe 1: Lift up the left lever and turn the 1st valve left twice. Turn it right until the pipe is filled with water.

  8. The second machine is the pipe machine two stories up. It requires 6 rivets, 4 pipes, and 5 pipe rings. Once you fix it, you must make the pipes line up so that the water can flow through.

  9. The third machine is a cage on the top floor and it needs 5 metal bars and 4 binding fluids. The bar size is changed using the '+' and '-' buttons. The sizes range from 1 to 4 bars. After you're happy with the size and orientation you've listed, click "Place Bar".

    The first side should now be complete. Click the right arrow for another side that needs fixing.

    Click the right arrow again for the next side of the cage.

    The third side is now finished. Click the right arrow to advance to the fourth and final side of the cage.

    The machine is now fixed. Select the bar sizes that fit into the purple spaces.

  10. Go speak to Effigy. He will ask you to meet him atop the tower. Go to the top floor of the tower. A cutscene of the summoning of a beast will ensue. The beast will get angry, and everyone will flee. Go downstairs and speak to Effigy. He will ask you to confront the creature again. Head back up to the top of the tower.

  11. Speak to the beast and help it make up its mind by answering 7 questions. Make your choice to which world you want to commit the creature, magic or logic. Answers the questions in accordance to the chosen world. Answers can't be mixed.

    I hear people whisper of potions... Yes, you can make magic potions to boost your skills. People mix together ingredients in vials. The nutrients will help you.
    How are rune stones created? By harnessing the power of the gods! Take a rune stone to an altar and use a talisman.
    Can people move things with the power of the mind? Yep, you can use the Telekinetic Grab spell. Sure. Use your brain to tell someone to move it!
    How can I possibly exist? Through the power of alchemy. It's a simple case of combining materials.
    Explain those flashing sparks that scared the alchemists. You have special powers - no surprise seeing how you were created. Coincidence - there is a lot of loose metal around.
    I want to learn more - what should I study? How about Magic and Runecrafting? Try some Mining followed by Smithing.
    If I reach out far enough I can grab the sun. Can't see why not, anything is possible. Don't be silly! You'd get burnt!
    Am I a creature of magic or a creature of logic? Your very existence speaks of mystical forces. Everything has a reason, even if you don't know what it is.
    Which do you believe in? Magic. Logic.


  12. Head back down to Effigy, and talk to him. The beast will appear and scare Effigy. Then the beast will ask you to meet him in the dungeon. Go down the trapdoor in the tower and speak with the beast to the north. After telling you what this place is, and how to begin creature creating, you will have completed the quest.

Creature Creation:

Upon completion of the quest, you will unlock the ability to make various creatures by using certain items on the altars of life in the basement of the Tower of Life. This is a perfect place to get secondary ingredients for herblore, feathers, and other items. You can talk to the Homunculus in the basement to learn how to create these monsters.
