Speak with Grüfeld Bach at the church north of the Varrock Museum. He will inform you that a Zamorakian monk, called Denath, is attempting to summon a demon which could destroy Varrock. Grüfeld then asks you to acquire the only sword capable of defeating the demon while he tracks down Denath.
Note: The easiest way to reach Varrock is by using the Varrock lodestone or the Varrock teleport spell (requires 25 Magic).
Enter the catacombs beneath by climbing down the trapdoor south of Grüfeld. Once inside the catacombs, walk north until you come to 3 spirits standing in front of Silverlight, which is protected by a magical barrier. Speak with any of the spirits about the sword and they will tell you that you must pass 3 different tests in order to claim the sword.
Note: If at any point you log out while inside of the catabcombs, you will reappear next to the trapdoor inside of the church.
Step into the eastern room and speak with The Spirit of Mind to start the first test. The spirit will ask you several questions which you will need to answer correctly in order to pass the test. When you have answered correctly to all of them, the spirit will tell you that you have passed the task and have a focused mind. The answers to each of the questions are as follows:
- Why are you in this place? I seek the Silverlight.
- What is Silverlight? A sword that slays demons.
- Why do you require a sword that slays demons? A powerful demon threatens Varrock.
- Who is this demon? Delrith.
- Who sends you to claim Silverlight and fight Delrith? Grüfeld Bach.
Go into the northern room and talk with the Spirit of Faith to engage in the next trial. You will be required to walk across a deep chasm believing not your eyes, but your faith. Take one step at a time, moving into the direction the spirit tells you to (North, East, West, or South). When you have crossed the chasm, you have passed the trial and may run back normally, since your faith is strong enough to allow walking wherever you want to.
Note: If you take a wrong step, you fall into the chasm and will have to start over.
For the third and the final test, go into the western chamber, where the Spirit of the Body awaits. Speak with the spirit to start the test, which will require you to kill 10 Skeletons (level 2), that all use Ranged attacks. Defeat the enemies to complete the task.
Return to the center of the catacombs and speak with the spirits, who will tell you that you have passed the tests and are ready to complete the task. The spirits will disperse and the magical barrier will vanish, allowing you to take Silverlight. Take the sword and leave the catacombs.
Return to Grüfeld Bach and he will tell you that he has located Denath in the caverns below the Church of Zamorak, near Aubury's rune shop in southeast Varrock. Head south to the church and climb down the trapdoor in the southwestern corner of it. You will have to fight your way through several rooms containing Zamorakian monks (level 2). Keep moving eastwards, until you reach the corner, and then turn south.
In the southeastern room, you will confront Denath, who will summon Delrith (level 15) before you are able to stop him. Equip Silverlight and attack the demon. During the battle, he will start charging a magical attacks and yell "Prepare to be incinerated!" before he attacks with it. Use this as a cue to run to Grüfeld Bach, who will activate a shield around him that will deflect most of the damage from the blast.
Note: While under the shield, Delrith's magical attacks are still capable of dealing up to 1000 damage. If his magical attacks hit you while not under the shield, he will kill you in one hit. It is therefore advised to turn the Protect from Magic prayer as it partly blocks those attacks.
Once you have killed Delrith, the tunnels will start caving in and you will automatically be teleported to the Varrock church with Grüfeld Bach. Speak to him again to claim your reward.
