Start Point:
South-east of the Southern bridge over the River Elid in the desert far south of Al Kharid. Talk to the Wanderer.
To Start:
Speak to the Wanderer at her camp in the southern reaches of the desert.
Instructions:

Note: You CAN leave the the city without killing yourself. There is a crack in the wall near the northeastern corner next to a group of Locusts. To get back in, enter the rock east of the wanderer.

  1. Talk to the Wanderer at her camp near the city of Sophanem in the southern part of the desert. Your kitten/cat will hiss and the wanderer will tell you about a secret passageway into the city if you get the cat away from her. She will then ask for a Waterskin(4) and a Tinderbox in exchange for the information.

  2. You will be hypnotized and left at a large rock to the east of her camp, you will enter the rock, and you will end up in the city with a Canopic jar in your inventory. Examine and remember which type of jar you have, as you will need it later on.

    Note: There are 4 types of Canopic jar you can receive, namely crocodile, bug, ape, or man. The type of jar received differs from player to player.

  3. Equip your Ghostspeak amulet and speak with spirit of Klenter only to be insulted by him. He will demand that you return the Canopic jar which you have in your possession. Since you think you did not steal it, you will deny his insinuations. Touch the door which an impression of a cat to enter the pyramid.

    Note: You cannot teleport out of the pyramid

  4. Once inside you will be in a dream-like state and will have to overcome a number of obstacles. The first obstacle you will come by are wall crushers. Simply stand as close as you can to each wall crusher then click diagonally to the next safe spot.

    Note: If you fail the to pass a wall crusher successfully, you will be dealt 80 damage.

  5. Next are a few invisible pits up ahead. Walk along left wall until you have passed the rectangle on the wall, then cross to the right side. Stay along the right side until you are to opposite to a rectangle on the wall. Switch to the left side and walk until you pass a candle. There, cross to the right side and walk onwards.

    Note: If you trigger a trap, you will be dealt 50 damage and end up at the beginning of the labyrinth.

  6. Now, you will have to overcome another set of wall crushers, evade Scarab Swarms (level 12), who can poison you, and Mummies (level 70) until you reach a large pit. You need to jump over the pit on the left side. Make sure your run energy is on and jump across the pit.

    Note: You must unequip everything you're wearing and have a run energy of at least 100% to be able to successfully jump across. If you fail to jump the pit, you will appear before the second set of wall crushers next to the mummies.

  7. Once on the other side, head over to western burial chamber. To access it, you will have to solve a puzzle. When you click a square the squares around it will flip over. Click the squares until the complete image appears.

    Note: For an easy way to open the lock, keep reseting puzzle until it looks like the image below. Then, hit the squares marked by a number (1, then 2, then 3).

  8. After you have solved it, you will appear outside of the pyramid. Ask to the nearby Sphinx for help. He will only help you if you can solved the following riddle "A husband and a wife have 6 sons. Each son has a sister. How many people are in the family?" The correct answer is 9. Once answered correctly, he will give you a Sphinx's token and tell you speak to the High Priest.

    Note: Make sure you have your kitten/cat with you or the Sphinx will not talk to you. Do not choose the wrong answer or you will lose your cat.

  9. Talk to the High Priest at the temple south of the pyramid, then up some stairs to the east. He will tell you that you have return the Canopic jar, and that cats act as guardians.

  10. Go back through the pyramid (remember to enter by right-clicking the door and click open) and enter the western burial chamber (Make sure that you have your cat in your inventory). Once inside, prepare yourself for battle and try to pick up the burial jar that corresponds with the Canopic jar you received earlier. As soon as you try to pick up your jar, a monster will attack you. Depending on the type of jar you tried to pick up, one of the following will appear.

    • Crocodile: Crondis (level 57) - He uses Magic attacks.
    • Bug: Scabaras (level 58) - He uses Melee attacks.
    • Ape: Apmeken (level 56) - He uses Magic attacks.
    • Man: Het (level 56) - He uses Melee attacks.

  11. Once you have defeated it, pick up the Canopic jar and head back to the pit. When you try to jump over the pit you will say to yourself that it might be better to leave the jar here. Jump back across the pit and head western burial chamber. This time you have to solve a similar puzzle as before, but one flipping 9 squares. Drop the jar where you found it

  12. Head back to the High Priest. He will ask if you could help prepare a ceremony by talking to the Carpenter and Embalmer.

  13. Speak with the Carpenter at his shop east of the pyramid, and tell him that the High Priest needs a new Holy symbol for the ceremony. He will agree to make one in exchange for a set of Willow logs. Given that this will take some time he will ask you to come back later.

    Note: Upon completing the quest, the Carpenter will buy Willow logs from you at 40gp each in loads of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20.

  14. Now, visit the Embalmer at his house North of the chapel. He will ask for a Bucket of sap, Linen, and a Bag of salt.

    Note: A bucket of sap can be obtained by using a knife with an evergreen tree while you have a bucket (you can use the bucket on the evergreen if the knife is in your tool-belt). And, upon completing the quest, the Carpenter will buy Bucket of sap from you at 30gp each in loads of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20.

  15. Head to the northern part of the city and buy a piece of Linen from Raetul for 30 gp.

  16. Return to the Embalmer and give him the requisites. He will tell you to report back to the High Priest

    Note: If you did not bring a Bag of salt, then head to a small pool of north of Sophanem. Use a Bucket on the pool to fill it with salt water and go back to the city. There empty the Full bucket on the pillar surrounded by mirrors to evaporate the water. Next, search the pillar to obtain a Pile of salt.

  17. Head back to the High Priest and he will tell you to talk to the Carpenter. The Carpenter will give you a Holy symbol and tell you to speak with the High Priest in the pyramid.

  18. When you enter the pyramid and jump over the gap you will be in a dream-like state again. You will notice that the Holy symbol in your inventory has been replaced by an Unholy symbol. Make your way through the pyramid and enter the eastern burial chamber. Use the Unholy symbol with any of sarcophagus around the walls. As you leave the chamber you will speak to yourself saying that you should not have done that.

  19. Return to the eastern burial chamber and speak with the High Priest. After a cut scene a Possessed priest (level 56) will appear. Turn on Protect from Magic and attack him.

    Note: The Possessed priest can drop an Attack, Strength, Defence, Magic or Agility potion potion, all in doses of 4.

  20. Once the Possessed priest has been defeated, talk to the High Priest and give him the Holy symbol. Leave the chamber where you will be hypnotized again and taken to Icthlarin. You will find yourself back in the eastern burial chamber. Head outside and talk to the High priest to receive your reward.

    Note: If you equip the Catspeak amulet and talk to your kitten/cat, it will tell you more about the storyline of the quest you just completed.
