To Start:
Search the bookcase.
Instructions:
  1. Start by searching the bookcase on the eastern wall inside the house found southwest of the Seers' Village bank to find a Battered book. Read this to learn about an ore unique to the village which could harness the power of elemental energy and the workshop that was set up to work this ore into metal and later closed down as the equipment created from the ore was deemed to be too powerful.

Once done, right-click the book and choose to cut it open to obtain a Battered key, leaving you with a Slashed book which you should keep for the duration of the quest.

Note: The easiest way to reach the quest start is by using the Seers' Village lodestone home teleport and walking east to the house.

  2. Now head into the workshop found just northwest of the house and use the Battered key to open and pass through the odd-looking wall on the north side with a crack down the middle, then climb down the staircase.

  3. You'll now find yourself in the centre of the Elemental Workshop, but before you can make any elemental equipment you'll need to get the machinery working. First head into the northern room where you'll find a Water wheel which needs to be restarted. To do so, turn the Water controls on the east side and then the west side and the red indicators on them should turn green. Now pull the lever next to the wheel and it will start working again.

  4. Go back into the central room and search the crates until you find a piece of Leather. With this, head into the eastern room where you'll find a large pair of bellows which you should click on to fix with your Leather and Thread. Once fixed, pull the lever next to the bellows and they'll start working again.

  5. Next, make your way into the western room and attempt to mine any of the Elemental rocks. You'll now be attacked by an Earth elemental (level 44) which you must kill to obtain the Elemental ore it drops.

  6. Now search the crates in the central room again to find A stone bowl. Take this into the southern room and use it on the Lava trough to fill it with lava and then use the filled bowl on the nearby furnace to relight it. Once done, use your Elemental ore and 4 pieces of Coal on the furnace to smelt an Elemental bar.

  7. Finally, make sure you have the Slashed book in your inventory and use one of the workbenches in the central room to turn your Elemental bar into an Elemental shield.
