I for one have struggled with money throughout runescape and started this to help everyone in the same position as me. Please post you're methods and ideas here for money making. I'm sure it would help out a lot of people.

PK with no items or just a whip, dds etc. with high enough prayer.
Target skulled players and possibly bring teleblock runes.
When killed, PKers drop a lot.

Flipping/investing/merchanting is definitely the way to go, combined with farming. Pure skilling just doesn't cut it anymore unless your skills are extremely high, and by then there are still better non-skilling methods.

I don't know what levels you have, but collecting items that people use for herblore, summoning, and other skills is a good way of earning money. Most don't require any level to get them.

If you like combat you could kill slayer monsters, which most of the time give good rewards.

Another option is flipping or merching like claudia suggested.

Just tested collecting gold ore/bars from living rock caverns and it does make a lot of money for low levels who can't do much else.
Powertrainers will just drop the ores/Use them on one of the smelting familiars and drop them.

Also, if we're talking just F2P, here's what i've been doing and it seems to be the best way, barring merchanting;

- Cutting Yews
- Superheating (Mithril is best for profit besides Rune, which is impractical for most people, alternatively you can either smelt or superheat steel).
- Making Soft Clay in Edgeville.

All of those ways you can easily make 50k+ an hour; if I could afford to buy mithril supplies in bulk I could probably make upwards of 100-150k an hour.

Also, lowbies should definitely be killing cows by Beefy Bill for cash. Cowhides are still nearly 300gp each, and bones/beef are around that price as well.

Oh, right, there is tanning. That's a good one. There's a tanner in Varrock now who isn't as close to a bank as the one in Al-Kharid, but still an option.

I like superheating steel bars, its really quick and the raw materials cost less than the actual bars so you really just need to stay at any bank rather than spending long long hours mining ores.

slaying monsters is good $ and xp as long as it's a slayer task. I seem to get better drops if I'm killing something as a slayer task. Living rock minerals are great as somebody pointed out. try killing the patriarch when they show up, awesome drops, consistantly around 250K per kill for them.

I've always been more of a skiller and I know from personal experience Hunter is a great money maker as a whole, but there are somethings that are alot better. One very easy and pretty efficient method is charging air orbs. Not much attention required and you can make around 400-450k an hour.

I spent alot of time mining coal / iron (i'm only level 57 mining) .. then made them all into steel bars and made them into cannonballs, i now have 4.5m easy money <3
