Has anyone checked this out?

Within the past few hours RS posted a link to an article written about how RS in fact a true MMO. And the author even states that RS is more worthy of that title than any triple-A titles that have come out in the past 10 years (I believe that would include WoW as well). It's not that lengthy of an article, but it might be worth reading.

That is a good read. RS is the only MMO I've ever played, and I started playing when I was a little kid.

I do disagree with one thing though. The membership subscription should not have gone up. I liked the $5 thing they had going

paintball while the 5$ was nice i have full faith in jagex and that they did what they needed to to give us an epic game and besides that its still better than the 15$ a month most "mmo's" these days cost

I wish those articles weren't always so one-sided. Runescape is always either a perfect paradise or a monstrosity overrridden with bots and marketing schemes. When in reality it is bit of both. But if you are fan you only see the good things and when you are hater you only see bad, I guess.

@Gray - Yeah. I had to read the author's bio to find out his bias. He's an Eve Online player so you can proly Assume he's not a WoW fanboy.

Very true, it is cheap compared with others. I just liked paying less XD

I did too, but you have to understand as the game grows it starts to cost more to keep it running, and they still kept it low for people who had membership before which is really cool and something most companies wouldn't have done.

Now on the topic, I agree. RS is IMHO the best MMO/MMORPG on the market right now. Quests are real quests, constant updates, low fees, huge amount of F2P content and a very large and mostly loyal community makes it a top if not the top MMO.

Not necessarily. They raised the price, in my opinion, because they lost a bunch of members and had to make up for the revenue. If they would have continued to grow and obtain new members there wouldn't have been a need to raise the price.

And in an attempt to pick up new members, they introduce things such as "Sizzling Summer" and Bonus XP weekends where Members get the full double XP, while free players only get 20%. IMO this ruins the integrity of the game (which is actually grind, grind, quest, minigame, grind) as experiance is the factor that drives it, by giving out free XP, you make it that much eaiser to reach that 99 or 200M xp, whereas someone else would have had to grind for hours and hours more than the other person who recieved free XP.

At least with the article, the author did mention a lot of key points that set apart Runescape from other MMOs, and you don't have to be a fanboy to know that's the truth between them.
