I need to chose a topic for my English Comp class, from this short list of approved topics. Anyone have any suggestions for what would be something interesting to write about?

• Drug trafficking in the United States
• Childhood obesity
• Values portrayed in popular media
• Individual privacy vs. national security
• Government grants for alternative energy research
• Designating an official language of the United States

I'd choose the Individual Privacy v. Nation Security. You could bring up the internet and all of the privacy legislation that has ben brought up in Congress.

both good choices... i could go on for pages on the drug trafficing one and the same for childhood obesity... but it's not our essays... which one would YOU find most interesting to write about. which one do you think you can get a min 5 paragraphs out of as well as any other req (word req, page req, etc)

your lucky to have so many choices... I never get that many when I do essays in school.

Ugh, I'm so used to having at least 10-15 choices I feel really stiffled by this one. Adding in also the fact that I don't have the option of special requesting my own topic.

I was going to use Values Portrayed in Popular Media and talk about how popular bots are in RS, then I realized that isn't something actually being discussed in the game as something good to do so I don't think it quite fits the topic. Now I'm leaning towards how there are so many reality shows out there that it is encouraging people to think of their own success based off of how many random people know your name or follow you on Twitter or FaceBook. I'm just not entirely certain that is what I want to do. Obesity in children is another good one, but I've kind of used that one before, though in a different way.

I'd also go for Individual privacy vs national security. It would probably be interesting to write about that. You could write about the difference between those and how it effects people or whatever your choice, but that's what I'd probably choose.

When I was in highschool,, I majored in Englis. Because I could write on forever..and ever...and ever. On a topic that I find intersting. My thoughts are, choose the topic that YOU know well, semi-well and very good. And just write. You can't go wrong there.
