For those fans of Half Life out there, you may or may not know about a Mod that's been in development for a number of years called Black Mesa. This started out as remaking the original Half Life game in the Source engine, but it grew to become its own game with tweaks here and there. It has won awards and gained a large following in the early years, but then everything went quiet for a long time.

Recently, the team started doing press releases and announced the due date of September 14! It has also been put forward to Steam's Greenlight program and as of today it achieved enough votes to be delivered via Steam. The game will be free to play and contain roughly 10 hours of gameplay. The next releases from this team will include the Xen levels and a Death Match.

Anyone else excited for this release?

Anywhoseville, I heard about this a while back, got kinda excited, then realized there was no release date and lost interesting thinking it was never going to happen like Duke Nukem or Episode 3...

Same here, but I can't say I expected anything different with the kind of traffic I knew they'd be getting lol. Still, they really should have gone on the cloud for this rush so this wouldn't happen >_<

i just heard about this yesterday when i was editing the details of a torrent for it (not like that is needed cause the mod is free. but some prefer that way of downloading). it sounds interesting, although I have never played half life.

How's everyone going with this? So far it's everything I hoped it would be. I'm getting serious doses of nostalgia while it's also feeling like a whole new game.

It's amazing. Found some bugs, but thoroughly enjoyed playing it Took a break at the dam, but I've been too swamped to pick it back up again
