Hi all,
just wondering if any one could recommend any good programs (free would be good lol (legally free!)) that i can sue to convert .mp4 files into .avi files

i know i could Google it and i have, i just wonder if any one can recommend any cause there's like 15+ results

I think loading it into windows movie maker and rendering it out as a different film file might work, but also if you want to watch any sort of video type just use VLC problem solved :-)

why would you not want a mp4...Anywho, if you're using linux or don't mind getting dirty in some commands, try ffmpeg.

If you wanted to go from avi to mp4, Miro Video Converter is great.

May I ask what is demanding these horrid avi files?

I just downloaded Format Factory (totally free) which seems to reformat quite a few different types of files into another, similar but different, format. However it doesn't quite do everything so I don't know for sure if it'll do MP4 into AVI.

It's not for me, well it's for me to use but I have the mp4s and my parents want to see some of the footage but they wanna watch it on ther TV try have a set top box that lets u stick a USB stock in but it won't read mp4 only avi.

Freemake Video Converter is the one I use and it's free!

Linux or mac? Because I'm pretty sure you just do that on the commandline with linux.

Another good one is Handbreak, I've used it before and it's fairly easy to use too
