RuneHQ Birthday Recap
We here at RuneHQ would like to say thank you to everyone that helped celebrate our sites monthlong birthday bash with us. We shrived to make sure that everyones interests were sparked with the vast amounts of events that we offered. It was a great time for one and all. Our sites members are a lot more then just names, they are family. Having a celebration like this brings us all together to have some fun and meet people in game that you might not normally meet. I must say it is always great to see everyone show their pride.

During the month of November we will be setting up times to be in Ventrilo recording members singing Christmas carols. If you'd like to participate please contact Kittyhawk or post in this topic. Don't worry, we promise to use these recordings purely for ebil purposes.
P.S. Suggestions for songs to be sung by staff members will be appreciated. I don't know how many will let me twist their arms and bully them into doing it, but I promise to do my best.

What is it? Well let me tell you.
RuneHQ would like to offer our vast knowledge of the Runescape experience to aid you in your gaming. The RS Mentor Program focuses in assisting you in a number of areas such as:
Skill Development
Minigames
Quest Help
Game Orientation
As well as anything someone would like to learn in the game, but maybe unsure of or needing advise.
In addition the RS Mentors are able to help out with Heros quest for anyone who has trouble finding a partner.
RS Mentor Progam is available in RuneHQ IRC chat every Friday from 2-5 central time. Hope to see you there.

What brought you to RuneHQ?
I acutally used RHQ for the first time many years ago when my nephew introduced me to Runescape and he said the RHQ was the best site for quest help.
Favorite areas of the forum?
Events of course.

I can hear the groans - but farming, though it is not my highest skill.
Hobbies?
Reading, games, crafts sometimes

NCIS and House are the 2 favorite TV shows, and my all-time favorite movies are Dune, Gone With the Wind, and Star Wars.

Who wants to grow up? But I am working on my PhD in Instructional Design for Online Learning, so teaching would be it.

Describe a memorable moment of your RS life.
Going to Jagex and getting to see the offices, behind the scenes, meeting the JMods, MMG, and the players was totally epic and unforgettable.
How long have you been playing Runescape?
I first started playing about 5-6 years ago, stopped for a while, but started seriously again about 3 years ago.
What do you gain or earn from being on staff?
You get to work together with some awesome people who you can learn lots from. You get to know people from all over the world and you can learn just how much work is involved in running an awesome fansite like RHQ!

History behind your name?
Once upon a time I got an internet connection all my own and I had to decide what I could do with it. It was the first time I had a connection that wasn't based on length of time use or owned by someone else, so I could go where I wanted and when, but I had no idea what I wanted to do with it. I started out by going to a site linked to one of my favorite TV channels back then, which was right around the time Tech TV merged with G4 TV. And of course I found the forums for the site.
Now when I was little my best friend and I had written stories about sisters, and I was going to use that name to register on the forums, but it was taken and I couldn't use it. In trying to find a different name that I could use I decided to go with a name of an animal, but Kitty by itself was wrong for me. Thats when I decided to use Kittyhawk. Of course that was taken too so I added the 816 at the end and have used that nearly everywhere ever since. As for why I didn't just add the 816 to my original choice, I think at the time it was too personal a name to add an impersonal number to at the end to make it fit, it just seemed wrong, but using a new, made up name for that was no trouble at all.
What brought you to RuneHQ?
On the G4 forums I had been talking to people about video games, of course, and one of the people asked if I had checked out a new MMORPG that was totally free to try with no download. I checked it out and absolutely loved it, but I was drawn to the quests and no one I hung around with on the game at that time shared my interest. So when everyone got sick of being bugged by me for help doing the quests one of them told me "Just go look it up at runehq" so I did. It took me a little longer than that to find the forums, and even longer to become a part of the forums, but thats how it began.
Favorite area of the forums?
Changes on a day to day basis. I love the Media and Radio sections of the forums of course. If I didn't I'd probably have to ask to change my job, but I find different areas catch my attention at different times, and then I end up spending more time there for a bit.
Favorite skill in Runescape?
Herblore and Slayer because neither are just a mindless repetitiveness to level. You have to plan out what you are going to do, think out a short term plan and keep flexible if that doesn't seem to be working out the way you want at the moment. You have to be involved in what you are doing to train those two skills effectively. On the other end of things for enjoyable skills for me is Agility, because it is different enough to keep part of my attention but repetitive enough to leave my mind free to wander if I am thinking about a decision I have to make or a situation I have to deal with in my life. Its like playing solitaire.
Hobbies?
Besides video games, I also crochet and knit, I draw when the mood strikes me. I read a lot, science fiction/fantasy are my favorite genre.
What made you want to become a staff member of RuneHQ?
I applied at a time when most of my life was up in the air, I didn't know what I was doing with my life or what was going to happen with my family. I needed something outside myself to concentrate on and a place where I felt like I was honestly helping people and making their lives more interesting. It made me happy to be here, and still does. As long as this site is a happy place for me to be I will still be here.
Zamorak, Saradomin, or Guthix? Why?
Guthix because the idea of balance in all things is something I can understand. Saradomin seems rather vain for a god, and Zamorak is selfish, and being a mother I can't support that.
Last thing you did on Runescape?
Got my smithing level up high enough to drink a Dwarven Stout and finish up my Varrock diary. Three diaries left to go.
What are your talents?
I think listening is my biggest talent. Combine that with being able to understand what you are feeling about it and why its important to you and you get quite a few friends who come to me just to talk about what bothers them a lot.
Who performed at the first concert you went to?
Sadly enough, Shanana. For my 16th birthday my mother decided I should have the opportunity to go to a concert, so instead of arranging a concert I could go to and buying me tickets, she bought tickets for me and her and we went together. Sad part of it is that it was my birthday gift, but her favorite band and type of music.
Most overused phrase on Instant Messanger?
I like to say "I'll be back" when I need to step away from the computer for a while, but I tend to get funny reactions from people when I say it. Come on people, the phrase was used in normal conversations before Terminator ruined it for all time. BRB just seems so impersonal and offhand, but unfortunately its the accepted phrase on IM. Of course being able to be reduced to three letters does help it a bit.

History behind your in game name?
When i first started playing I hade so many names that iI wanted to use, but every name was already taken. At that moment i was watching the movie "The Crow" and it was at the scen of him looking at his oven grave. I saw the name and was hooked "DRAVEN" only i cahnged the E to an A. Wish there was more to tell but thats how it came to be.
What brought you to RuneHQ?
I at the time was like every othere player out there. I had been to many site looking for a good forum and information, but every site i came across just didnt have what i was looking for. I found this little site called Runescape Central. I origionally was origionally hired on as a Site Editor and quickly rose through the ranks making my was up to becomming a Site Admin. I remained there until MrStormy came along and became part of the staff and eventually created his own RuneHQ. With the demise of Runescape Central I along with a few others were invited to come on board and help make a site that we could be proud of. I was thrilled. From the very first days of RuneHQ i am proud to say that i was a Site Admin. From that point on i have been an active member and admin, showing no signs of slowing down.
Hobbies?
Beside online gamming of course. I have been playing guitar for 15+ years with Metal as my influence. I also am an avid paintball player. I love the outdoors, spending time my my kids and family and watching grow and discover things for the first time. Im a pretty calm guy these days, taking it a little easy.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Well, I want to get a Ph.D in English, so hopefully I'll be a successful writer or an English professor at the University level. I am, however, completely prepared to live in a cardboard box.
What made you want to become a staff member?
People being rude in chat.
Who performed at the first music concert you went to?
KISS, all i can say is that i was way to young to have been allowed there, lol.
Favorite type of music?
Metal i my true love. I do like and respect all music though. I discovered that once i started playing guitar you look at music in a entirely different way, so my range of songs that i like has a wide range.

Kid Rock
What is the last thing you did on Runescape?
Fishing, to me its the most relaxing skills to do. Do some fishing watch some TV........ah
How long have you been playing Runescape?
8 years and still going. I love listening to other players talk about when they started (after members) not knowing how it really used to be. When i tell them stories of how it was when i started no one can believe it was once like that.
Most memorable moment in Runescape
For me it was reaching level 100. So many years ago to me that was the almighty goal to be reached. I was so happy .
